Description: Persepolis Is a Persian/ Mediterranean restaurant with a dynamic atmosphere...
Persepolis Is a Persian/ Mediterranean restaurant with a dynamic atmosphere and 20 years of experience! We are located in the Upper East Side on 2nd Avenue & 73rd Street. Our chef San Sethachutkul’s goal is to serve the finest Persian Feast and the best ingredients available from local markets & Persian imports. We prepare a simple yet creative menu that highlights those ingredients. The restaurant is famous for verity of kebabs and refreshing salads and gently spiced grilled meats. The yogurt and cucumber blended with a little mint is made exceedingly well and is an ideal cool compliment to Persepolis’ rounds of Pita & Barbari bread. Our kebabs which include moist and delicious salmon or saffron chicken are served without heavy sauces. Instead they are served with a choice of four rices including an intriguing blend of Basmati rice and marinated sour cherries. Our personalized wine list truly compliments our cuisine. We also offer a full classic bar.
We look forward to seeing you!

Very good Iranian restaurant

An interesting and varied menu. Attractive and comfortable place to sit and chat without too much noise - unusual for Upper East Side NY! Food was very good and the service excellent.

I've been here for lunch and dinner, three times and enjoyed great service and truly tasty menus. My favorite includes the array of eggplant appetizers along with saffron infused chicken entrees.

I am half Persian so I do know. Falafel isn't Persian so don't order that. The bread isn't Persian either so don't eat it if u don't like it (previous reviews were nasty about these two items). The kabobs are superb. The fish is excellent. The rice is phenomenal. The stews can not be beat. Everything is always delicious and... More

This is a must for those who enjoy Persian food. The yogurts are outstanding, particularly the shallot yogurt. They also have a very good pineapple salad. The pomegranate and chicken stew is quite good. The saffron chicken kabob is excellent. The dill rice and the cherry rice are extremely well prepared. The noodle dessert with syrup, when mixed with ice... More

Having been disappointed by some of the 'big name' New York restaurants, it was a delight to find a friendly Iranian restaurant just near the Metropolitan Museum that served great food at reasonable prices. The yoghurt trio and Kobede kebab with salad were truly excellent. New York boasts many great restaurants but its Middle East selection is limited - so,... More

I live near by and eat here a couple of times a month, sometimes as take out. The meat is always grilled to perfection, with side dishes that exceed the ordinary. Be sure to try the rice sides. Well worth a stop in a neighborhood full of food options.

Walking down Second Avenue we noticed this restaurant and saw several Zagat stickers on the front window next to an A rating from the NYC Health Department. Not that it is that unusual to have a skunked beer served to you, but this was the beginning of a bland experience. We ordered the 'Baba' for baba ghanoush. It was almost... More

My wife and I have been coming to Persepolis on Manhattan's Upper East Side for Persian food for over 20 years and it has always been excellent without exception (really). We are willing to drive 25 miles from New Jersey just to eat at this restaurant often, and our children love it as well. It is our favorite restaurant in... More

Persepolis is located around the corner from my relatives' apartment and she took us there for lunch one day. I had a fabulous lentil soup and the lemon chicken with rice. The lunch deal was great. The service was very good and the staff was nice. The portion size was also perfect. I'd recommend Persepolis!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
