Persepolis Is a Persian/ Mediterranean restaurant with a dynamic atmosphere and 20 years of experience! We are located in the Upper East Side on 2nd Avenue & 73rd Street. Our chef San Sethachutkul’s goal is to serve the finest Persian Feast and the best ingredients available from local markets & Persian imports. We prepare a simple yet creative menu that highlights those ingredients. The restaurant is famous for verity of kebabs and refreshing salads and gently spiced grilled meats. The yogurt and cucumber blended with a little mint is made exceedingly well and is an ideal cool compliment to Persepolis’ rounds of Pita & Barbari bread. Our kebabs which include moist and delicious salmon or saffron chicken are served without heavy sauces. Instead they are served with a choice of four rices including an intriguing blend of Basmati rice and marinated sour cherries. Our personalized wine list truly compliments our cuisine. We also offer a full classic bar. We look forward to seeing you!

IF YOU WANT TO GO along with the PERSIAN WAY with a BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN LADY PARTNER

The food was delicious, however, looking at the menu, I wouldn't say that this is a persian restaurant. Kebab was good, rice with safran - that looked persian but being the person who visited Iran, I can say the menu is lacking traditional persian dishes.

We visited this restauant on a cold windy Sunday evening, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The best part of the esperience was the honestly prepared food. We had the Beet salad, folowed by a hearty stew (Khaesht ghorneh sabzi) with steamed spinach. It was fabulous! The service was attentive but not over bearing. I recommend without hesitation.

Good restorant for ethnic middle eastern food, I have to say the food was great, good athmospere, have sambousac or samoosa as an entree and Pomagrate chicken. And that's a great dinner.

Bored of American food, we wanted to try a Persian restaurant close to where we were staying and there wasn't one very close by--so we had a little browse and decided to do the 30 minute walk in the cold and visit. God are we glad we did. This place is cozy, offers great service and has incredible food. With... More

If I submitted to TripAdvisor a picture of the main course that I had, anyone looking at that picture, but not reading my review would be tempted to go to the restaurant and order it, so I won't do that. I started the meal off with falafel ($7), an appetizer I was sure I would find to be very good.... More

Since I am Persian, I know what is a good Kabob and what is a good stew. The kabob was just fine, nothing special for the huge money you are going to pay. Small portion of rice, that you run out of it during eating your kabob. The stew was nothing like the Persian stew they described on their menu.... More

We went to Persepolis with a friend who lives in the area and eats there frequently. Well prepared food with a Middle Eastern flavor. Very good appetizers and we had lamb, chicken and shrimp as main courses, all of which were good. The service was professional, attentive and friendly. Not fancy but a nice ambiance and crowded, especially for a... More

Persepolis is one of my favorite local restaurants. Located Ushkudar (hidden Turkish gem) it offers very flavorful Middle Eastern food. Cornish game hen is great. When dining with two or more people be sure to try all their rices.

We frequent NYC twice a year and visit this restaurant whenever we can. Food is excellent, varied and reasonably priced. Try the different rices!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
