Reliably good value

I am not surprised this place is popular for breakfast. The only problem is that staff are a bit overstretched because of this. Portions are generous & surprising extras like toast & jam are included. Would highly recommend for casual eating.

You only get a table, if you come all together. I was first and my girls were five minutes late, manager refused to give me a table. Unfriendly

Great selection of dishes for everyone! One of the best diners in New York. Great food and excellent service! Options for every palate, including vegan and vegetarian.

We travel to New York yearly and eat several meals at Cafe Viand during our stay. It's a nice homey diner with plenty of variety and choices. Breakfast is a favorite- best pancakes ever!! Frittata's are good too. Fresh fruit is always ripe and juicy. Have also had lunch and dinner and were pleased as well. The servers are quick... More

Ate here twice as it was right next door to our Hotel Beacon. Great variety and old, New York diner style. Looked at some other trendier restaurants but found this cafe to our liking. Great food, efficient and courteous staff. Very solid. Prices are reasonable considering it is New York. Also, had the best Kale salad ever! Nice surprise.

This is the place to visit for a great diner-style breakfast. We both ordered the eggs benedict and were amazed at the portion size. Our server was absolutely charming and attentive. Go there if you are hungry!

It was late, rainy and cold so we decided for this diner close to our hotel. It is an honest non pretentious place, with good food, friendly service, moderate prices. We looked at the menu, breakfast and lunch looked good too, maybe next time.

Food so so. Server from Poland was very sweet and friendly which made the dinner memorable. At least it was open late

This was recommended as a good breakfast venue for the Beacon hotel... It was packed but we squeezed in with no wait, and the quality of our (simple) breakfast was very good and brought to our table quickly with timely topping up of coffee. An authentic NYC breakfast experience.

The salmon and onion omelette was yummy and served with home fries and toast which is nuts!!! The omelette itself was enough on its own... For me anyway. The staff were all friendly, especially our server who was very efficient.
