Nice diner - proper NYC

Nothing spectacular just good service from early AM to late late at night. American breakfasts, salads, burgers and cooked dinner. Try the Greek dishes. Right next to The Beacon theater and hotel. Several repeat visits on our NY holiday.

This is our breakfast spot when staying at the Beacon and favorite spot for sharing a meal with our grandchildren. Always something on the menu for everyone. We've visited multiple times over the years and always dependable.

We enjoyed several meals here. It was so convenient when we were tired after busy days. The staff were so welcoming and the food offerings covered a wide menu

We enjoyed a post-theater sandwich late Saturday night at Cafe Viand. It wasn't as crowded as places closer to the theatre district, but the staff was friendly and the reuben was delicious. Pies looked amazing, especially the lemon meringue, but we opted not to taste this visit.

After arriving a bit early for a show at the Beacon Theater one Saturday evening, Yelper Ben Y and I thought it would be nice to stop for a cappuccino and a couple slices of cake. We walked by Viand and happily entered. We were seated in a booth in the back along a window - my seat of the... More

Had breakfast here every day for a week and a few evening meals while staying at the Beacon. Excellent food in an authentic American dinner with friendly, helpful staff. It is also affordable and has an inclusive service charge which was a welcome change for N.Y. Best recommendation is that it is very popular with the locals. Added significantly to... More

We were staying at NYLO and staff there recommended this to us. I felt obliged to try someone new but it wasn't as good and this became our regular breakfast stop. Tried something new each day and the staff were always will to accommodate our poached eggs on toast requirements without all the potatoes. Kids liked a lolly or sweets... More

Just a very regular, old fashioned diner, if you're into that sort of thing. They automatically added 20 dollars to our tab as gratuity, because we were tourists.

Had breakfast there with husband and another couple. A very busy restaurant. We all enjoyed our breakfasts therefore the "Very Good" rating but I wouldn't rate the service as very good; the staff seemed very curt with us, one person at the table did not get the fruit salad she ordered in lieu of potatoes, and I thought the cups... I found it difficult to fault this experience. We too stayed at the Beacon next door, on 4th April, so for convenience alone Cafe Viand scored highly. The menu was varied enough and the service cheerful and well paced. The food quality was so good in the evening that we decided to have breakfast there too the next morning and... More
