We used this café when staying at the Hotel Beacon next door in July, 2014. The layout is of a bench-seated diner. The food is of good quality and the portion sizes are generous, by the standards that we are used to in the UK. The menu is of standard café fare and the service levels are good. Between us,... More

Food prices were very good and portion sizes large. Very good service from pleasant staff. Ate 4 meals here and were never disappointed.

Great food, great portions, great service, I would recommend this as an all-american dinner to any friend of mine.

Viand was fine for a speedy breakfast but not a place for finer dining. It is bustly and quite noisy but service is prompt, the food generous and warm and adequate without being exciting.

I have gone here mainly for lunch and always enjoyed it. The food is very well prepared, the staff very friendly, and never felt rushed. My aunt loves this place so much they had her 95th birthday luncheon there. The staff quickly joined a bunch of small tables together in the middle of the floor and it felt like a... More

We went to Viand most mornings for breakfast as it wa next to our hotel. The food was okay. The prices about average for New York. What let's it down the most is the miserable, unwilling and unfriendly woman on the till by the door who greets you! She didn't smile the whole time we went there. Not a good... More

We went to the cafe viand because of a recommendation of the concierge in our hotel. It is on one hand typical american, but at the same time it is not. Yes, there is a waiting line and you have to wait to be seated, but once you are finished with the excellent (in our case) brunch, nobody is rushing... More

We stopped in on a Tuesday night in October right before a show at the Beacon. We were told that the wait would be around 10 minutes for a table, which it was. The entire restaurant was packed with show-goers and people from the neighboring hotel. Once seated at a table for two, a waiter came and took our order.... More

Awful Management and staff. Rude beyond belief as well. Don't bother coming in for a coffee either. You may even be asked to move your table, as we were, if you don't spend enough money. If I could, I'd give "0" points, but 1-star is generous. With so many great places to choose from in this neighborhood, there's no reason... More
