We have been dining at Cleopatra's Needle for around 4 years whilst visiting Manhattan, Whilst staying on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, we always enjoy Dinner at this Restaurant, they cater with a Middle Eastern Menu as well as people who have strict diets in our case, one who is a Vegetarian, there is good choice of Entrees for... This spot is like hanging out in your living room - cozy and warm with Christmas and other lights hanging about. I went on a Wednesday which seemed to be Open Mic night and everyone was great! Draft Beer was $9 and the Linguini with tom/basil was $13.95 with bread but no salad. Very basic menu.

Stopped at this place while in the UWS and found a cozy spot to enjoy an early dinner. Named after the obelisk in Central Park behind the Met I was drawn to it as I had recently visited Egypt. Food is in general Mediterranean (pure Egyptian food likely would be hard to survive in NY) and quite nice. Quiet and... More

I am less positive about this restaurant than are others. Perhaps this is because we were not present when jazz was available. The food was inexpensive and arrived quickly but was not of memorable quality.

Unassuming frontage belies a warm, friendly place for good Mediterranean / North African cuisine. Good choice of dishes as a 'meze' or on their own. Entrées including pasta dishes, central med grills as well as some.North African specialities. Attentive staff, good food with the added bonus of live jazz!!! What more could you want on a Friday night!!

I was staying at the Newton Hotel across the road and went to this restaurant 3 times, the food was really good a lot of options on the menu, I had the lentil soup and it was the nicest soup I have ever tried. The music is on every night and it was really great with lots of different performers... More

Stopped in on a Thursday night with live Jazz. Great little street side restaurant, with a mix of Italian and Mediterranean food. We had the hummus as an app and then Kabobs which were both delicious.

We only came here to listen to jazz and have a drink. Definitely recommend if you'd like to chill at the bar and have good conversation over a couple of hours with a nice drink.[or 2] ;-)
