We were three and ate three desserts. It was hard to decide from their incredibly large selection. I think we decided that the chocolate chip truffle cake was best. But, then again the apple caramel pie was pretty delicious. I hear their breakfasts are great, too. We'll be back!

I had been here probably 9 years back and had found the food to be much better. This time, however, I did not appreciate the food much. The coffee was not very hot and strong and the Danish and breakfast pack that we took were also average. The decor is very nice however.

Cafe Lalo is special and a great finish for date night. But just know that despite the twinkle lights and coffee house allure, its popularity (i.e. crowds & noise) makes it more hectic than romantic. The desserts are awesome & creative, and the waitstaff is friendly....well, for NYC! Cafe Lalo is one of the treasures of the West Side. Open... More

I was hoping to find a little piece of heaven, but I was very disappointed. There were three tables with people seated when we arrived. Service was terrible. I was there with my two kids. We were there for about 15mins before anyone even acknowledged us. We ordered two ginger-ales, a fruit smoothy, a piece of cake and an order... More

Nice place for short stop after walk in the Riverside Park or sightseeing the Upper West Side. You maybe won't be able to decide which cake to taste as there is so huge choice! The place has its own interesting style. Recommended for the fans of You've got mail movie with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The staff is really... More

We stopped in because of wanting to see where Shopgirl got stood up by NY152, as everyone does, but the food was really great! The server was sweet and attentive, the food was priced well and in large portions (far too much for me to finish!) Even without the movie connotation, I would find this to be a lovely gem... More

Nice Parisien style cafe. Famous with the old movie classic from Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Cafe itsels is much better than the movie scene. Perfect breakfast menu and deserts. I would like to go again and again. Must visit in Manhattan.

Everyone goes here after they watch "You've Got Mail" but guess what? The food is actually awesome. The staff is beyond friendly, the atmosphere exactly what you want it to be - yes, everyone there is a tourist...but so are you, so just let yourself enjoy a window seat and a lovely brunch.

Simple yet delicious desserts pleasing to the eyes but more to the mouth. We tried the tiramisu and Apple crumble cheesecake and it was just ordinary. But for one who wishes a good ambience for after dinner desserts and late night chill without alcohol, this is the cozy place to be.
