Food wasn't too bad, but combination of service and atmosphere took any joy out of this place. Service first: three starters arrived with an empty plate for our fourth guest to use as a sharing plate - evidently his order forgotten, and turned up fifteen minutes later after a reminder. Mains were nice but they'd managed to mix up the... More

We had dinner with friends we hadn't seen in a while,so it was nice to be able to carry on a conversation. We had the lasagna which was good, although not as good as mine. The service was a little slow which was fine with us,as we had catching up to do. The chocolate mousse-like cake was excellent. All in all,it... More

I've been going to this restaurant for many years. I always enjoy the service, food and ambiance. Freddie is an excellent host.

My husband and I were treated to dinner from friends living in NYC. We are Italian and we can guarantee that the food is great, and genuine Italian. The atmosphere is very nice, quiet, you can have nice a conversation without having to shout. The service was impeccable too. If we happen to visit New York again, we will definitely... More

This is the place to go for good food, good service, and a room where you can actually hear all of the conversation at your table! If you're looking for a hip New York bar scene, this is NOT the place! The wait staff was attentive to our party of 10 and we never felt rushed to end our evening.... More

I was brought to this fabulous restaurant by a close friend and I've returned several times. The food is outstanding and I have always enjoyed myself. The veal chop special is a must (when available) and you can ask for anything special. This restaurant is one of my favorite in NYC.

This restaurant doesn't list its midtown location. Now I know why. It is not so good. We were a party of 6 and it was my nieces birthday. They don't have birthday cakes so we were told to bring our own. When we got there we gave the cake to the hostess so my niece wouldn't see it. 2 minutes... More

Authentically Italian cuisine, lots is specials, excellent service, and a desert cart with mouthwatering deserts, all made fir a great experience. We particularly liked that the tables are well spaced apart, so one doesn't feel crowded and can actually carry out a conversation without shouting. A great find in the UWS.

Had Prix Fixe menu for New Years Eve in this wonderful Italian restaurant. Restaurant was full with locals from UWS Manhattan- always a good sign! Food was fantastic-plenty of time between all courses. Wine was reasonably priced for Manhattan. Easy walk at 11.45pm to Central Park for NYE fireworks. All in all a great experience.

We wanted to take our Mother and Father out for a nice dinner and chat and we asked them to pick the place. They picked Scaletta's and we were glad. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable old NY. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I had the crab cakes which were good but not great. I... More
