New Year´s Eve party at Scaletta Ristorante

We just visited New York and had dinner at Freddy´s (former soccer player in New York - together with Franz Beckenbauer) restaurant before we went to the firework in the Central Park. We had a prepared 4 course dinner. We started with some pasta, followed by a salad, an Entreé and a plate of... read more

First, let me say that we like this restaurant because it's not loud and you can have a conversation. The food quality is mixed. Osso bucco was just ok. Pasta special was fabulous. Asparagus appetizer was great. They forgot to bring sauce for the calamari. Service was not good. We waited repeatedly too get a waiter"s attention. The ladies' room... More

As we were seated our waiter asked us what we would like to drink. No menu, no description of offerings. We said water, and were never asked again. The specials numbered over 10, but were verbal and so hard to hear. The food was fine, but as I wriye this a few days later, have to be reminded about what... More

We went there with our son and granddaughter . Our granddaughter is only 4 and they treated her like royalty. The 3 adults ordered 3 different veal dishes and all of them were tender and delicious. It is an absolute gem.

Scaletta is family owned and operated, and because it is down some stairs, many tourists are unfamiliar with it--it is a hidden neighborhood gem! The food is cooked fresh, and it is generally quiet (a welcome change from the neighboring trendy restaurant Isabella's). In fact, if I am not in the mood for something on the menu, the chef (one... The reason this restaurant is so great is that it offers food italian food at reasonable (for NYC!) prices. The service is five star. One of the unique aspects of this restaurant is that the tables are farther apart than any other in the neighborhood, so we can enjoy our meal without hearing everyones conversations. The owner greets everyone at... More

I paid $100 per person to eat very basic food (pasta + scaloppine). They use butter to cook vegetables, that it is simply NOT ITALIAN. Please tell the cook to go to internet and find some real, healthier italian recipes. Also, please, use oil...

We dined here last Saturday after a matinee performance. We were part of a bus tour, so to be honest, I thought we'd just go to an ordinary place that caters to day-tripping groups-you know what I mean. I was SO wrong! From the minute we walked in, it was so impressive. The owner/manage(?) greeted us and he was ever-present... More

I go here often and the food is always good. Whatever I order I'm glad I ordered it rather than wishing for something else. I especially like their Straciatella soup which is not always on the menu but they always seem to have it if you ask. I have had fish, veal, pasta dishes, all have been satisfying. The waiters...
