Decided to take advantage of Restaurant week and take in Chef Alex's, Butter. The restaurant is located in the lower part of the Cassa Hotel and you look up to see natural light and a garden setting for the restaurant. The Restaurant is done in darker wood tones with some nice soft lighting that conflicts with higher halogen spots. The... More

Wife and I had lunch here. We had the butter burger with fries. I had a house salad with Apple Cider Vinegarette. The butter burger was very good. We ordered it medium but it came out medium well. The fries were crispy and not greasy. The salad was very good. Service by our waiter Jeremiah was excellent. The restaurant is... More

I love Alex G, but this restaurant left me wanting more. The service was definitely not up to par, and the meal was just okay (especially for the cost). I did love the atmosphere inside as well as being able to spot Alex while I was eating.

Last night was our third time in Butter, and we had the same high expectations as our other visits. The food did meet these expectations, but not the service. My husband has a food allergy, but the waiter would let the chef know. That did not happen. Also, part of the entree order did not arrive on time. It was... More

We were in NYC for a special celebration. Our weekend was full of fantastic food experiences! Thinking we would end with one final great meal we made reservations at Butter. What a mistake on our part! Of the 8 meals ordered, 4 were served cold! The manager, if you can call him that, nonchalantly sauntered to our table and expressed... More

Eight of us went to enjoy what we thought would be a memorable top chef experience. Were we ever wrong! Six of the eight of our meals were cold. The wait staff was inexperienced, placing down the wrong entrees to the wrong people at our table. When we asked to speak to the manager he seemed to take his sweet... More

Birthday dinner for myself & husband. Started with an amazing cocktail called Calamansi (?) -wow. It was lime juice , mint, vodka and watermelon ice cubes - so refreshing . Appetizer was wild mushrooms and toasted brussel sprout leaves with homemade ricotta on a brioche - we split it and it was scrumptious. Definitely too large to eat alone. salad... More

My husband and I went to the Mid-town Butter in the theater district, after a Wednesday matinee play. It was part of a birthday gift for me. Well, this meal we ordered was the happy completion of a very special day. This is Alex Guarnachelli's beautiful place. I'm so sorry she wasn't there that evening, I'm a big fan of... More

We were so excited to try Butter, a group of 6 of us made a reservation turned Up and were impressed at first. However the trouble started when we ordered and we told the waiter that one of our guests had an allergy. He would not help us at all. He said they could not amend any of the menu... More

I enjoy Foodnetwork and wanted to try some of my favorite tv chefs' restaurants, so we went to Butter. The decor was beautiful and serene. I love the wood and the skylight that kept it from being too dark. We went for Sunday brunch and my food was exceptional. I got the fried chicken Waldorf salad. My friend got an... More
