I have been lucky enough to visit some really great restaurants over the years, and this meal was up there with the greatest. Our party consist of two rampant carnivores and two vegetarians, and eac one of us was bowled over by our menu choices. Rather than ramble on, I'm just going to say IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT (our... We went to brunch for good food and bloody Mary's last weekend. We ordered our Mary's and we're told NO bloodys! In NYC? For brunch? What? Waitress said the bartender didn't have ingredients. Although they had vodka, tomato juice, hot sauce. What kind of bartender is that , he can't originate his own version? When I tell you tables all... More

We went on a cold NY night and was warmed to our soul with chef Alex Guarnechelli's offerings. In particular, do not pass up the Mac and cheese gnocchi. Oh, and her desserts...rustic bliss. A giant YES!!

After reading all the outstanding reviews on here, I initially thought we went to a different place. Though I agree the space is fantastic and a wonderful atmosphere, the drinks and the food were way below par. Margarita was not very good, and the only thing on tap was one cider, no beers. Menu was small. We started by ordering... More

I would have rated Butter a five star had it not been for the loud music. However, the wonderful food and the 5 star service certainly made our evening a most memorable one. My husband had the filet and I dined on the most delicious pork chop I have ever had! My granddaughters (aged 16 and 15) dined on the... More

We recently visited Butter during a trip to NYC. Overall the food was excellent! We particularly enjoyed the delicious pumpkin ravioli appetizer and the simple, but flavorful Tomahawk steak (cooked perfectly medium rare). The atmosphere was lovely and nature-inspired (wood, tree branches) creating a comfortable and calming effect. Unfortunately, the service was not up to the level of the food... More

First, the food at Butter is excellent. My husband and I shared the pumpkin ravioli appetizer which was delicious and more than generous. In fact it could be a main course for one. I had the branzino and my husband had the pork Milanese. Both were just perfect. The room is warm and comfortable with subdued lighting (but not so... More

We were in New York and staying at Cassa Hotel so were conveniently located above the restaurant and after reading a number of positive reviews decided to try Butter Restaurant. The bread served prior to our meal was a soft bun which was salted and was divine with butter - we could have definitely had more of these. We ordered... More

Butter has an intriguing menu that contains reasonably priced small plates (including salads and hot appetizers) and large plates. I shared the day's special (veal chops for two) that - while of excellent quality - was enough for four people. One fault - we had to ask to have what looked like a standing rib roast sliced so it was... More
