Solid Performer

Arrived early to a quiet restaurant that was bustling by the time we left at 9pm. They had a set menu that looked a bit overwhelming but which gave ideas about what could be combined. We started with a special sashimi plate. This was beautifully fresh, with generous amounts of uni and salmon roe... read more

New York has equally fine Japanese restaurants at half the price of this place. The food was ok but the portions were small. En Japanese is much better value and not too far away. This immediate neighborhood is expensive, why pay up for the food here ? And don't order the 5 grain rice - it was very bland. The... More

First - make a reservation. Second - sit at the bar, so you can watch the dishes being prepared. Third - consult the waitress. Ask their advice about portions and balance and what is involved. Fourth - Do NOT eat lunch if you're coming from dinner. Omen is a small, simply furnished establishment. Friendly staff - slightly confusing menu, but... More

I've had dinner twice recently at Omen and can only rave about the food. Both times we've ordered the tuna appetizer plus one or two more appetizers. All delicious. Our server recommended a ginger-sake cocktail that was fantastic. My new favorite drink! A little pricey but well worth it.

After a big day shopping we stumbled across Omen. Shank shabu was excellent, I had a quinoa salad and Omen noodle soup that was also great

Omen noodles are fantastic, the fish is always fresh and perfectly done. The restaurant is small and confortable in the middle of soho. Love it!

This is a modest Japanese restaurant in TriBeCa with just fabulous Japanese food. Service is excellent as well. Menu and wine list are limited but really cover anything off a great dinner.

One of my favourite restaurants in NY. Great vibe, great crowd. Can't go past sukiyaki hot pot. Unique sweet potato dessert, very tasty. Intimate setting. Authentic feel. Recommended to book in advance.

I haven't been to Omen in at least 5 years and I was absolutely impressed with how they have maintained the quality, authenticity and originality of the food as well as friendly/prompt service. My friend and I met there and were given a table for 4 in the back which was really nice and quiet after a busy day in... More

Omen is based on the traditional Royal Kyoto way of eating. Of course they do an excellent such and sashimi as well, but their specialty is far from the raw fish deal. They're known for their combination bowls of burdock root mixed with pumpkin and miso or a very tender tuna steak slightly braised on the outside and raw on... More
