The service is out of this world, attentive, fun and charming without being too pushy especially for the Europeans that like to be left alone when they dine. Stylish, elegant, the food amazing!!! Ask for half of the portion when ordering main as the portions are typical American- very big . Expensive but a fine dinning it is. Highly recommended.

My husband and I went to Il Cantinori for lunch during restaurant week, and the entire experience was fabulous from start to finish. Highlights included the salmon carpaccio, the eggplant ricotta appetizer and the filet of sole. It's the best Italian we've found in the city. We'll definitely be returning asap.

Il Cantinori is the New York Italian eatery you've always imagined, with locals sitting at the front tables spilling out onto the sidewalk, flower arrangements the size of furniture, New York-Italian waiters accommodating your every need, and fresh, tasty Italian food. After you're nearly bursting from enjoying the freshest buffalo mozzarella, juicy tomatoes handmade pasta or fresh fish, you'll still... More

Had a wonderful lunch during NYC Summer Restaurant week that exceeded all expectations for fine food, great service an super value. Can you imagine starting with a generous plate of Norwegian smoked salmon, followed by a delicious perfectly prepared Filet of Sole with capers and white wine sauce and topped with a sinful sweet to end the meal for $25.... If you had to pick one restaurant to dine at every time your in NYC this would be it. No pretense, just great food. Owner caters to the East Village neighborhood he's been in for 30 years, and it gets better with age. We shared the seafood pasta in a blush sauce and the freshness of the ingredients was exquisite.... More

This restaurant came highly recommended. We asked for a specific waiter who was not working the night we visited. So instead the manager gave us their newest waiter. Does that make sense? Orders were consistently wrong and delivered to the wrong person. Bill, was wrong and the. They lost their copy and chased me down as I was grabbing a cab... More

My son moved in across the street from Il Cantinori. I was impressed with the open front that the place has. Stop in for dinner. It was excellent. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxed. The waitstaff very professional with an in debt knowledge of the menu. The food and wine absolutely outstanding. Try the homemade pasta.

We had an amazing dinner experience. Right around the corner from NYU on a lovely street with great ambiance. We ordered three different entrees, all were exquisite. The pastas are homemade!! Service was outstanding. We will return every time we visit out child.

This place is literally out of a sex & the city episode (Carrie's Bday). The atmosphere is classic NYC on TV - front opens to the street. Huge bouquets (people size) of flowers flow throughout the restaurant creating the most amazing floral scents. Food is to die for. I had the burrata appetizer. It's like fresh mozzarella but with a... More

Il Cantinori leaves a long lasting impression year after year. The classic italian food there is exceptional. Good wine list. Great service. Not cheap, but for a good reason - everything they make tastes great. Definitely try the fish; salmon, grouper, branzino. Il Cantonori is upscale, but laid back. Make sure to reserve a table in advance. Perfect place for... More
