Better before but still good.

Dojo was one of my absolute faves when I first moved here. The soy burger? The stuff of dreams! Sadly they've renovated, and it isn't nearly the same. The soy burger can now only be bought at the bar...

Ate at this vital NYU establishment for years. Dojo changed management--and menus a few years ago. As a quintessential carnivore--enjoyed an occasional healthful veggie dish. I ordered the curry, rice and vegetable dish. The dish was awful--curry was pasty and thick, and veggies were virtually non existent. And it was pricey! Miss the old Dojo.

Dojo is a Japanese-ish kind of place, with reasonable pricing one would think, until the food met the mouth. Individual dishes bear low prices, but are generally filled with little food, so their number and cost is likely to escalate, unless one is on a diet. Further, one cannot rely on advice, for a pork belly serving said to have... More

Apparently at Dojo, they think people take hour-long lunches in the middle of the day. I met my wife here after a meeting she had. We ordered a soup with shrimp, chicken, noodles, etc [it was alright, nothing I'd run back there for] and quinoa salad, with at most 4-5 grains of quinoa. We only got our meals after asking... More

As a customer of 10yrs I can tell you how this place has changed over time, and not for the better. This place began as a American/Asian fusion eatery (their American fare was much better). They won my heart with their carrot tahini sauce. Last year they closed for a while, renovated & revamped the menu, and it was all... More

Had a delicious lunch with their lunch boxes and appetizers. The waiter wasn't the friendliest but the quality of the food made up for it. I would definitely go back when in the area.

The room was clean, bright and the food was very good. It's pretty much all Japanese food for dinner now. I had heard mixed things about this place, but I was pleasantly surprised. The prices are low and the service was good. Overall, I would return. It's not elegant but it's a bargain in NYC even with their new higher... More

i went for lunch on a weekday , and my party of two was seated immediately. While there were some tempting Japanese selections that we saw on other diners' tables, we both opted for brunch and ordered eggs with grilled potatoes -- eggs florentine and an omelet. Everything was prepared and served perfectly, and we spent about $10 per person... More

We haven’t been for awhile...and while it’s a decent physical plant makeover that DoJo’s gave itself, the revamped menu is expensive, sparse, and leaves a lot to be desired. We were extremely disappointed by everything on offer except for the original 1972 Hajiki Tofu Dinner for $7.95. Prices are high, portions are skinty, and service is spotty! It’s no longer... More

Granted things happen... Like finding a hair in your food. I found one prominantly displayed in my gyoza tempura tonight. Ewwww. And no one noticed. This is not the old dojo. Avoid.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
