This was the first noisy restaurant in NY, as my husband remembers it. 17 years ago, it opened with trendy communal tables with backless benches, waiters with technology instead of pads to write your order. The food concept somehow seemed fresher then. Today, I'd love it to be taken over by a ShopHouse. It is convenient to the Greenmarket and... More

Our non-traditional menu and atmosphere are things we're really proud of, and it's disappointing to hear they weren't to your taste. That said, I want to assure you that your dishes will be spicy and flavorful next time. Hope to have a chance to impress sometime soon. Best, Edward, General Manager More

My sister and I stopped in here to eat after a very long day of shopping. We were starving and were very pleasantly surprised by the portion size of the food. We started out with fried wantons which were the best I have ever had. She had beef broth noodles and I had chicken & mushrooms with rice. Neither of... More

There is a chain of restaurants in the UK by the name of Wagamama and Republic seem to be their New York sibling. The ambience is essential, simple tables with no clothes and very few dishes that however are generously sized and not too highly priced, The cuisine is a far-eastern fusion, the service is fast and courteous and the... The food was good, communal table setting was fine. It was a little hard to hear between the music and the chatter from everyone. Nice location at Union Square.

I had the misfortune to have to pass through Times Square yesterday to get to the N train, and after being nearly trampled by thousands of tourists taking pictures of each other, it was such a delight to get off at Union Square and walk into Republic just across the street. The place is crowded and noisy, but there are... More

Thanks to "The Village Voice" article on the top ten foods to eat in Union Square, we chose Republic on our first night in the city. It had been a long haul to get there and we wanted to eat near our apartment on East 16th, so we wandered in at around 9:00 pm, were promptly seated at a long... More

Good value here - large entrees are typically $15 and appetizers are approx $7. It's a large and noisy place and an army of waiters works hard to get you in and out quickly, so it's not exactly relaxing. If you don't mind that, you'll probably enjoy Republic. Very good noodle dishes such as Pad Thai, glass noodles etc. The... More

Great food. Good Service. However there was too much noise. It was unconfortable to stay. Good prices and good menu, but we had to eat fast just to get out of there.

Always reliable for take out. A little noisy at the restaurant so we have delivery. I've rarely been disappointed with anything here. Dumplings are fine. Cruise the menu and you can't go wrong. a pan Asian mix.
