Good Food, Lively Atmosphere

The food and service is good. Keep in mind though, this is a busy (spelled LOUD) restaurant with tables on top of each other. (The tables need to be pulled out to allow those seated on the inside to get in or out.) If you like lively places, this could be it. If you're looking for a quiet... read more

Lots if beer on offer. Really nice bar on a busy corner to people watch. Did not eat but food looked really nice. Good cocktail menu.

The only positive thing I can say is that the location is nice, especially if you can snag a table outside. The food is unbelievably boring, barely mediocre. Croque Monsieur should have a French flair to it, n'est pas? Nope. It's basically a couple of lame slices of Wonder Bread upon which they slapped a thin slice of ham and... More

I am from Belgium but I live already many years in Iceland. We went to the restaurant Markt to have a good Belgium beer and dinner. It was very loud in the place so not very romantic. I ordered a Duvel. The waitress was going to poor out the beer in a way I would have a lot of foam.... More

We have been here 2 times. I must say, first time was amazing, second time a little less so, but that was because of the inattentive service. The beer selection is amazing, food was consistently good. Steak tartar, tuna tartar, oysters, mussels in curry and cream sauce and onion soup were very good. The waffle (for desert) was horrible. Don't... More

We visited Markt for lunch last week. I ordered a penne pasta that was undercooked. The sauce was really good. I guess I should have known better than to order an Italian dish in a Belgian restaurant so that's my fault. Service was very good and the atmosphere was lively. My daughter ordered a vegetable sandwich that she loved.

Easy place to grab a good lunch and great Belgian beer. Stick with the draughts - there's really no reason to ask for bottled beer with all the other variety.

I went to Markt for brunch with a friend and I guess its a telling sign in NYC that when all the eateries near Markt have a line out front, Markt has plenty of spare tables. The service was pleasant. Very welcoming although a little slow in general. Not a bad thing for a Sunday brunch when you don't want... More

We got an inexperienced waiter, but I must say he tried to do his best. As a main course I had moules in garlic cream, and this was not good. We had been recommended this restaurang with Belgian focus, and especially for their Moules. Maybe they had a bad day, but I am not going there again.

We met with some old friends over dinner. The food was excellent. The service perfect. They let us sit there and talk for hours. I really recommend this place.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
