Timeless decor

I usually stop in for a quick bit when in the area. The decor is charming and is consistent with a quaint Belgian pub. The food was lovely with sandwiches being served with a tasty salad. I have eaten there several time and the food is reliable. The tomato soup and mussels are delicious. The... read more

This Belgian bistro is fantastic if you like mussels or steak with frites! It also has excellent skate and other dishes, and tasty cocktails along with beers from the low country. You will be transported to Bruges or Brussels. It is also a bargain. My steaming pot of garlic and fresh cream was packed with 50 delectable mussels. I ate... More

Just stopped in for a quick bite at lunchtime today. The dining room and al fresco dining area were hopping, but the hostess found me a table nevertheless. The steamed mussels in Belgian white beer broth were refreshing and a perfect lunch portion. Great 'old world' atmosphere rounded out the whole experience. I will be back as the menu is... More

Markt is a great place for outside eating/drinking during the summer. The food is good, but the service here is on the slow side. Perfect for brunch, and the menu is quite extensive so there should be something for everyone. It is definitely worth checking out if you are in the Flatiron district.

Absolutely ….Average. the steak was really hard, the air conditioning freezing (although we asked to lower it twice!) and they put table clothes on every table except our (?!). Go somewhere else.

had dinner here solo. Found the food to be of high quality, but neither drinks nor food was inexpensive for a beer style joint..more like an upscale Belgian beer joint.

I arrived in NY from Australia a couple of hours ago and was just wandering around looking for somewhere good but casual to eat. Stumbled upon this place and very glad I did. Belgian beer is always fantastic and this lived up to that reputation. I ate the pate entree and the slow cooked beef main with fries. Both were... More

Stopped in for a couple of cocktails and modules (mussels) one afternoon when out shopping. Great service, fresh mussels and tasty cocktails.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
