Nice, Quiet Place for Weekday Breakfast

Met a friend for breakfast on a Monday morning while visiting NYC. Was very pleasantly surprised! Expected the hustle and bustle of NYC, but place was very quiet at 9am. Got a nice corner table and staff was friendly. Good mimosa's and great breakfast menu. Very nice to be in a quiet place and... read more

Markt is a delightful Belgian brasserie. You like mussels and frites? Good beer? Excellent service? Really a very nice place which made us feel comfortable and wanted. Our "potage de fruits de mer" was excellent and the perfect remedy for a snowy night. Definitely a winner.

I don't know how to describe the food style. Overall, the portions were very small and my lunch dish was ridiculous: 2 slices of lunch ham, wrapped w onions and covered with cheese for $17. Come on; this was so juvenile. Our service was very slow. From my table position, I could see the server joking around with other staff... More

4 of us came here for Christmas lunch. The restaurant is really pretty and has a nice buzzy ambience. Service was fantastic and fast. We all had variations of Mussels and fries which were all delicious and you get a nice large portion too. Drinks menu is very reasonably priced and bottles of wine/prosecco are quite cheap in comparison to... More

Great food, spacious restaurant. I have been here many times and always enjoy the food. Lots of fish (which I am not a fan of) but there are enough options for non-fish lovers. They are known for their mussels. They have a great lunch menu and great fries.

Markt is a Belgium brasserie that has a bustling business. The food is good, but the place can get get loud. I had the tuna tartare and the mussels and both were good.

First when arrived on a Friday night, thought wow, quiet, good ambiance. Then wasn't sure what to order on menu. Waiter (with cool accent) was of great help in menu description and choices. Everything was good!!!! From the bread, to Lobster Bisque soup, to oysters, to shrimp cocktail, to all four of us entrees. The deserts were really great too...I... More

Actually, didn't know the place and went there by chance. Place was crowed and load and it looked nice. Staff was friendly but food was really disappointing. Being Belgian I was expecting something good Menu was not very exiting, took a burger with fries but it was average and red wine was not exceptional And 13 usd for a beligian... More

Can't go wrong with the place after work! Jonathan and Frankie are the nicest and most attentative bartenders in NYC! The mussels and sliders work well with the Pinot Grigio.

Me and my fiancé went to Markt for dinner. The atmosphere is relaxed and the mussels are awesome. We both enjoyed our meal. We would definitely go back. We went around 6 o'clock and it wasn't crazy busy.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
