Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.

This is a wonderful venue for great Authentic Jamaican food -- but if you love good food also! They haven't had a bad day as far as service -- the bartenders are a bit cocky and withdrawn -- but that's NY bartenders. Try the pumpkin soup. The Ackee and saltfish is good but a bit skimpy. The vegetarian meal is... More

I went to the Restaurant on February 6, 2015. The food was average, but I did not like to be asked to pay a tip after using the restroom! I went downstairs and there was a woman sitting near the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and then she went in behind me, after finishing in the bathroom she then... More

Visited this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday, which was free of the evening noise and crowds. Chose one of the $12 lunch specials and it was delicious! Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Good choice - would like to come back for cocktails and/or dinner sometime!

I came in town all the way from Virginia to meet my cousin and they wouldn't let me go downstairs with tim's on...I offer to pay and they still denied me. I understand you'll might have a imagine to uphold but you loose out on customers and good reviews. Luckily there were tons of other bars and restaurants that didn't... More

Excellent Caribbean food - we discovered this restaurant by accident just going for a walk around Greenwich Village. This is proper West Indian food as we remember it from our holidays there - the only thing lacking is sunshine but the flavours and Negril's mojito more than made up for that. Go here if you like spicy food, highly recommended,... More

I ate at Negril Village for a good friend’s 30th Birthday dinner. We had a group of 8 people, and at least half of us are Bermudian born and raised and love Caribbean food, especially Jamaican food, myself being one of them. We waited quite some time for our table, but mostly due to the rule that all guests must... More

This restaurant is usually packed. Reservations recommended. There is a lounge area downstairs if you want to party after dinner. Difficult to find parking. The food and drinks are pretty good. I've been here about 3 times and will continue going back.

Negril has a great crowd and good food but they rushed us out for the next reservation and wasn't nice about it at all. We had an 8p reservation and the host told us we needed to leave because he had a 9p coming in but he didn't approach the people next to us who had been there longer. We... More

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
