Description: Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to...
Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.

Nice to find veggie options!

There were 3 clearly labeled vegetarian options, which was great since Caribbean food is often super meat heavy (though they were out of one). Food was tasty (I got the quinoa bean stew) and the portions were good. Service was good overall and the atmosphere was nice. Prices were a bit high ($16... read more

I went to Negril for the first time & must say I would definitely go back. From the staff to the food I enjoyed myself. The coconut rum punch was on point ad well as my oxtail meal. The collars greens could have used seasoning but overall everything was great..

I don't know why I never thought about writing a review regarding Negrils... but, today I just had to. The service is ALWAYS outstanding and the food is spactacur. The coconut martini is a must! I truly enjoy hearing the Soca and Reggae music they play and the decor is beautiful. A+

The wife and I visited NYC for my birthday, and we met up with some family friends here for dinner. The ambiance was excellent and the food was fantastic. I had the Negril's Pasta and my wife had the Curry Shrimp. Both were very good. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I've had, and I will definitely... More

When there with my wife and five other couples. We were seated immediately and our order was taken within a reasonable time frame. We were part of a large party and it took a bit to get served. The manager kindly asked us to leave and go the lounge (separately priced) so that another party could be seated. I understand... More

I would like to begin by saying that I've been going to this restaurant for years and have ignored bad reviews and comments but not anymore. For the price you pay the service should be better -We were seated before we were told that they were not accepting credit cards. -The waitress Whitnie was so rude. She laughed in my... More

This is a wonderful venue for great Authentic Jamaican food -- but if you love good food also! They haven't had a bad day as far as service -- the bartenders are a bit cocky and withdrawn -- but that's NY bartenders. Try the pumpkin soup. The Ackee and saltfish is good but a bit skimpy. The vegetarian meal is... More

I went to the Restaurant on February 6, 2015. The food was average, but I did not like to be asked to pay a tip after using the restroom! I went downstairs and there was a woman sitting near the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and then she went in behind me, after finishing in the bathroom she then... More

Visited this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday, which was free of the evening noise and crowds. Chose one of the $12 lunch specials and it was delicious! Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Good choice - would like to come back for cocktails and/or dinner sometime!

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
