Description: As one of the first restaurants to lead the Meatpacking District’s revival, Macelleria has proven itself to be a staple in an ever-changing neighborhood. Owned and operated by Violetta and Sergio Bitici, Macelleria's rustic, Northern Italian cuisine never disappoints. Using only the finest meats and home-made pastas, each visit to Macelleria is like sitting in on a Tuscan grandmother's Sunday dinner. Drop by and you're likely to see Robert DeNiro or Jay-Z dining in the restaurant's wine cellar, constructed in-part using a 16th-century fortress.

We have to eat in the Meat Packing district said Mrs DJ. Well I wasn't going to disagree. We sauntered over there via the subway from downtown, not too far. After a very chilly but interesting walk along the high line we dropped down to see what was on offer. Quite a lot of restaurants as it happens. We were... More

Having reserved a table for two in this fully packed restaurant on a Saturday evening, it didn't come as a surprise that we had to wait for 20 minutes at the bar before our table was ready. But with the really nice decor, the many happy guests and especially the well prepared, really tasty meal, it was worth the wait.... More

Quite simply put, this is our favorite restaurant. Macelleria is our go-to spot for special occasions but even when we pop in for dinner after work, it always feels like a special occasion. The name of the restaurant would suggest that the star of the show is meat and that's not incorrect but.....the pasta dishes are exceptionally good as are... More

This place was evidently popular as we had to wait for a place at the bar (tables were fully booked) but it was definitely worth it. The food was excellent and quite reasonably priced for the quality (about $22 average for a main) and the cheesecake was particularly tasty. My only criticism would be that they appeared to be understaffed... More

Came here with friends and family and what a surprise. Everything that we order was superb...tasty! The quality of meat here is excellent! The service is also good. It is now one of my favorite steakhouse restaurants in NYC. It is also inexpensive which I found surprising. Lovely cozy place and great to have conversations. Skip STK and come give... More

Nothing fancy - just good honest traditional Italian food made even better when you're welcomed by the traditional owner & receiving great service from his staff. Chatting with other diners, you know they're regulars & their reason for being there is the same. Location is at the base of the entry to Highline park amongst galleries & other quality eateries... This was the lunch stop for a group of us who had traveled by bus from New Hampshire for a Street Photography course. The day was a beautiful mid 60's and there were a lot of people out enjoying this last Saturday in October. There were a number of tables out front on the sidewalk, well placed and the people... This hidden gem was a nice surprise after been walking the high line. A rather small restaurant with a short menu. We had pasta, salads and a sandwich all of which were great, not too much but of high quality. The best sign of a good Italian restaurant is that they know how to cook spaghetti; this was excellent done... More

We loved the open setting and the food was outstanding. We had their homemade sausage and bean app which was awesome. Dinner of homemade pasta was outstanding. Although we did get dessert the cheesecake at the table next to us looked ridiculously good. Great place and we will be back.

I visited Macelleria on Sunday, 12 OCT 2014 around 11:15AM for brunch. There were relatively few patrons when we arrived but it quickly filled up around 12:00PM. We started brunch with a mimosa and a bellini (reasonably priced at $6 each), ordered a burger and penne bolognese, and finished up with two glasses of pinot grigio. We found that the... More
