Description: As one of the first restaurants to lead the Meatpacking District’s revival, Macelleria has proven itself to be a staple in an ever-changing neighborhood. Owned and operated by Violetta and Sergio Bitici, Macelleria's rustic, Northern Italian cuisine never disappoints. Using only the finest meats and home-made pastas, each visit to Macelleria is like sitting in on a Tuscan grandmother's Sunday dinner. Drop by and you're likely to see Robert DeNiro or Jay-Z dining in the restaurant's wine cellar, constructed in-part using a 16th-century fortress.

Stumbled on this great restaurant after visiting Chelsea Market and walking back throught Meatpacking district and wondering where to get a good espresso (very hard to find in US!). So we see Macelleria and think why not try as it looked interesting as Macelleria means butcher in Italian. I must say not disappointed as staff were accommodating as we explained... More

thought I'd post a quick review of Macelleria as I would highly recommend it. Being in the meatpacking district is a totally different vibe and it made us feel like we were in a place where the happening locals went which we absolutely are not but still very cool to see. Our dinner was amazing, we got there at 7... More

We had an 8:00 reservation and were sat 15 minutes late at a table right near the door and it was cold. It took a long time to get a server and the time between our aps and entrees was way too long. The food, however, was very good. One of the dishes tasted exactly like one of my grandmother's... More

We enjoyed everything, pasta, lamb fell off the bone and the shellfish was perfection! Cannot wait to return to NYC and eat here again.

Macelleria mixes a public of somewhat off the beaten path tourists and local business people. It is a fun place for excellent Italian food, simple and flavorful. Attentive service and reasonable prices also contribute to the charm of the place.

The meat they serve is absolutely fantastic: dry aged meat is very much trendy today, but this one really deserves the stop! Fries were also wonderful. Their wine list is also impressive: having lived in the region of Alba many years ago, I was surprised to find there very good wines that I never saw elsewhere but in their production... More

For our Christmas trip to NYC I did a lot of research to pick a nice restaurant for Christmas dinner. I am sorry to say I was a bit disappointed by our experience at this restaurant. The food is very, very good. But when you go to an upscale restaurant, you expect better service. My biggest complaint is that the... More

I had the lasagna Bolognese which was fabulous. Husband had filet which was perfectly cooked, delicious! Others in our party had the ribs, the butternut squash, the spaghetti and couple of other steaks, NY STRIP! Everything was top notch. Lovely ambiance, great service, very attentive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. For 5 of us for dinner, including a couple salads, bowl of pasta... More

We have to eat in the Meat Packing district said Mrs DJ. Well I wasn't going to disagree. We sauntered over there via the subway from downtown, not too far. After a very chilly but interesting walk along the high line we dropped down to see what was on offer. Quite a lot of restaurants as it happens. We were... More

Having reserved a table for two in this fully packed restaurant on a Saturday evening, it didn't come as a surprise that we had to wait for 20 minutes at the bar before our table was ready. But with the really nice decor, the many happy guests and especially the well prepared, really tasty meal, it was worth the wait.... More
