Description: As one of the first restaurants to lead the Meatpacking District’s revival, Macelleria has proven itself to be a staple in an ever-changing neighborhood. Owned and operated by Violetta and Sergio Bitici, Macelleria's rustic, Northern Italian cuisine never disappoints. Using only the finest meats and home-made pastas, each visit to Macelleria is like sitting in on a Tuscan grandmother's Sunday dinner. Drop by and you're likely to see Robert DeNiro or Jay-Z dining in the restaurant's wine cellar, constructed in-part using a 16th-century fortress.

Recently dined one evening here at Macelleria. Located a short 5-10 minute walk from the subway. I had eaten there solo once before while traveling through New York. This time my wife and I were together for this dining experience. We were greeted upon entry by the owner Sergio. Sat inside but would have been a lovely evening to dine... More

With such a great location and al fresco dining it was disappointment to have good appetizers and a tasteless pasta carbonara.

In the Meat Packing neighborhood, this spot has al fresco dining just right for people watching. The grilled octopus was really good as was the mozzarella w prosciutto. Too bad the pasta carbonara was do pedestrian.

Extensive wine list, a lot of choices for both the appetizers and entrees. Service was good and very much depends on the server, we observed. Prices at high end but still acceptable for the quality of the meals. There are little other restaurants in the area so this might have driven prices upward. We had our table outside. Inside it... After a horrible experience at Paradou, we walked down the street to find Macelleria's waiters standing outside, looking for customers. The four of us were immediately seated on their patio, by our request. We asked for a bottle of white wine, which was poured, and the unfinished bottle left in a steel cooler on legs by our table (nice touch!).... More

The service is friendly. A shortish menu - always a good sign. Food is excellent quality both in terms of ingredients and cooking. If I had to choose one restaurant always to go back to, this would be high on the list

Spent 16 days in NYC this month and spent every day having meals at this fantastic restaurant. Every meal we had was delicious. Most days we had breakfast and lunch/dinner. This was the only establishment in the US where you could get a proper cuppacino, made by a great waitress. Also one of the few who serve Sauvignon Blanc. The... More

If you live in NY and or is planning to visit NY, Pleaseeeee.....put this restaurant on your must try list. You are going to love it. This will be one of the best meals you will have had in a long time. I had dinner at Nello's on Madison on Monday (7/21) and I would tell you don't waste your... More

Lovely steak-specialist in the meat packing district, attentive staff, extensive menu set in an old meat packing warehouse now looking much cooler. Great area around for a night out too.
