Good variety, excellent flavors

Very delicious tapas. The dishes were all very flavorful and beautifully presented. Good menu variety. My favorite dishes were the fried goat cheese and squid ink paella. The only dish i was disappointed with was the seafood stew because the shrimp was overcooked and broth was thin. Be prepared to... read more

I have dined at Alta many times both at a table and sitting at the bar. I have never been disappointed in the food, service, bar staff and front of house staff.

Enjoyed a superb evening here with friends on Tuesday. The staff was warm and attentive (starting with Jose the bartender) and made us forget the snowstorm outside. The ambience is rustic and charming and makes you feel as though you're visiting with old friends. But of course, the food is the thing, and it did not disappoint! We shared several... More

This is one of my favorite spots in the city. It just ends up being the perfect spot for a family dinner or date night or big birthday party. The drinks are fantastic and the food is always spot on.

We were a family of four who arrived just as the restaurant was opening at 5:30 on a snowy Saturday night. We were dressed more like skiers than the nicer attire so perhaps we were viewed as inexperienced diners. This placed was recommended by one of my wife's patients who is very in tune with what we like. For this... More

This place is apparently a restaurant- turn up for our reservation and have to wait 30 min before a table is free only to be seating in a crowded corner with people standing all around the table and the only reassurance from our waiter 'Joe'- it's a busy restaurant, you will get used to it. The wait staff and manager... More

Went to Alta for the first time Saturday Jan 24, 2015 for a friend's 30th birthday. It is suggested that you order three plates per person which I would say is about accurate. Three plates left me satiated but not overly stuffed. My wife and I ordered six items, spaghetti squash, gnocchi, brussel sprouts, beef sliders, pulled pork empanadas and... More

As a New Yorker, I check out new places to eat almost daily and never repeat. Why would you repeat when you have so many choices... Alta's I have been to more times that I can count. The ambiance is perfect with a traditional theme and the food is to die for amazing. Each time I have dined there, the... More

Alta. “Fantastic Find!” OK. So even though this place only accepts AMEX or cash, it won’t deter me from giving it 5 stars. We stumbled upon this gem which is nestled in a residential part of the Village. One can definitely miss it if not looking down every stairwell. The bar is in the front of this rustic establishment, with... More

I knew my brother wanted to undertake a foodie adventure while we were in NYC so I looked up tapas places and this was by far the most appealing. Tucked away (we walked by it 3 times) on west 10th street, Alta was everything I have ever dreamed of. As the dining room didn't open until 6, we sat at... More

Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
