Romantic Tapas Restaurant

Pricey but delicious - best paella I have ever had! The server was odd but made sure all questions were answered. Small plates - some are VERY small - others are good for sharing. Wine recommendation was good and fairly priced. Cash or Amex only

The title is not an exaggeration. Alta really is one of the best Tapas restaurants I have been to. We were in a large party of 9 so we decided to go for the "Whole Shabang", which was every single item on the menu. Took the decision making away. Every single dish was delicious and the amount was ideal. Great... More

The Best Red Sangria !! This is a great small plate restaurant. Only issue was beware they don't take VISA. Had to run out a few blocks to an ATM to get cash.

Spain with Italy mixed together. Including the length of time that you should spend there. The truffle flat bread, bacon dates, and shrimp chorizo were fantastic. The paella was very good. The empanadas were decent. Very romantic atmosphere.

I love this place. I try to go every other month or so. The service is usually pretty good and the food is honestly very good. If you like tapas, this place is worth checking out. One thing to note, they only take Amex so either bring your Amex or cash. The Brussels sprouts are to die for. The sliders... More

This place is outstanding, it isn't too often that you can literally enjoy every single item off the menu! I didn't get the chance to try the Whole Shebang the last time I visited, but the time before that I had the entire menu with a group of 7 and I have absolutely no complaints from any dish. I cannot... More

I went early, before a concert, and there were only a few others at the bar. Since I was alone, I sat there and ordered the brussels sprouts and beet salad, with a glass of wine. Enjoyed the food very much, but one bartender just took my order with no effort at friendliness. The other one, who was doing something... More

The food, the wine, the ambiance, and the service have been basically perfect each time I've gone there.

I recently had dinner at the Alta with a group of 7 and enjoyed it very much. Food is served tapas sized so we sampled many different things. My favourites were the bacon-wrapped dates & olives, the goat cheese & honey, the brussels sprouts and the lamb meatballs. I also enjoyed the red sangria and I'm not usually a sangria... More

Four of us went to Alta to eat dinner. We were led upstairs and through the kitchen to our table. We had eight courses between us, but these are small plates. All were spectacular, especially the pasta, the lamb meatballs, the lamb tagine, and the Brussels sprouts. We also had short ribs, scallops, eggplant and shrimp with chorizo, which were... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
