Had breakfast at Balthazar on my visit to NYC and the food was really good. The menu selection is broad - you can get a big entree breakfast, or an English muffin. The choices are so broad depending on your appetite. The bakery items are fresh and true NYC style.

Although I have made several business trips into NYC, I never had the opportunity to dine in this fabulous restaurant in the heart of the city. Although the restaurant was packed (it was Christmas Day) and had a waiting line we were able to be seated iafter a short wait. We were seated and was served immediately by a most... More

We had visited seven years ago with friends and had really enjoyed the atmosphere in Balthazar, so brought our teenage kids on this trip. Professional, relaxed, efficient service and very tasty food last time. Again, we were not disappointed. From arrival to departure the staff are exceptional. Very courteous, very friendly, they make you feel right at home. Two of... More

Fab choice of homemade soups, sandwiches and excellent coffee to eat on the street or a nearby park, just watching the world go by. Cheaper coffee to take back to hotel too!

As frequent customers, we know that Balthazar usually does not disappoint. Our Christmas Eve lunch yesterday went according to what was expected........delicious paillard and frites although the moules had a surprising heavy cream base, not the preferable aromatic garlic, parsley and bouillon. Dessert was a scrumptious banana tarte. This time it's the usually impeccable service that came down a notch.... More

Ill informed waiters - we asked for house champagne and were offered Prosecco?!, food was cold, steak overseasoned and tough, but more than anything - nobody appreciates being given a card telling them how much of a tip to leave ! Not a patch on the London Bathazar, avoid, there are plenty of other much nicer places for brunch in... More

Visited Balthazar for our last dinner in NYC, and had a great evening. We started with the onion soup, and goat cheese tart and both were to die for. For our entrees, we had the steak frites - the steak was amazing and cooked to perfection (we know our meat, we have a butcher in the family), and the fries... More

Really good, very busy place. Food excellent. Reservation recommended. Also, for tourists, it's a really cool, quaint shopping area.
