Good food. Margaritas have gone downhill a bit - used to be more "effective." Remember, you can get a reservation for groups of 6 or more.
We visited last Saturday, this is a really lively but very friendly bar/restaurant and the prices are really good also. I went with my fiancé and her cousin who lives in Chelsea, her cousin told the pa that we'd got engaged that day, which he announced to the entire bar, who congratulated us and even through a few shots of... When walking in we were immediately overwhelmed by lots of people, loud music and tacky decor. Overhearing others talking about how great the food was, we decided to give it a try. We were able to get a table in the back where the rock music wasn't as loud. The food was very good and portions were large. The highlight... More
I want to give Tortilla Flats 5 stars, but their free tortilla chips were a bit lacking. I know, I shouldn't complain about free chips, but a place called Tortilla Flats should have outstanding, not just okay chips. This is where my complaints end. Average mexican fare, but that is not why you go to Tortilla Flats - It's all about the experience. Go on a Monday or Tuesday for the amazing Hoola Hoop contest! 2 minutes without dropping it and you will earn yourself a round of shots and a t-shirt to go with. Super fun :)
I ate at the bar and had chip and salsa, a silver margarita, and chicken mole. All were really good. The salsa was outstanding and the chicken mole was pretty incredible. I would go back for sure.
I have been there every time I go to NYC and it never disappointed. I send my friends there as well, and they enjoy it too! Good hot food, interesting decor, lighting a bit low. We were amused by the maitre - a cross between Gerry Garcia and a Harley biker. REALLY sorry we missed Bingo Night.
Finished walking the High Line and ended up in this restaurant. Couldn't have been happier. Very relaxed, kind of campy/mardi gras decor. Food was excellent and trivia contest gives you a chance at free shots. Highly recommend.
And I am heading back there again this weekend! Can't wait... Never had a bad meal here and the prices are low and the portions huge!
