No Po' boys here

Don't bother looking at the menu. Just tell them you want the Five Course Tasting menu and let the Chef blow you away his choices for the night. I had a great pumpkin ravioli with amaretti crumbs sprinkled over the top. Unforgettable.

We took a family member out for dinner for his birthday here after reading glowing reviews. We found the food average and uninspired. My partner had one of the vegetarian selections, broccoli with pasta which was rather boring. I had pasta with mussels and sundries tomatoes which sounded better than it tasted. Not that it didn't taste good, it just... More

Cozy little Italian restaurant in the West Village. Excellent selection of wines and outstanding food. But the service made all the difference. Recommended by a Manhattan native as the best place for a lazy evening out. Suggest making a booking. Especially on weekends.

Every time I go to NYC, I eat at this place. The food is amazing and the staff is really nice. I have seen Sopranos' cast members there. Just remember to book a reservation in advance.

We had always wanted to come back but we cram so much into our annual trip to the Big Apple that we never had, so this was the year. We were on the subway coming back from the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens when we realized it stopped a block from Po, so we jumped off (not literally) and climbed the stairs... More

After having read some great reviews about this place I was a little disappointed with the food , I thought it was just average gnocchi to be fair my wife really enjoyed her spaghetti with clams. I think Palma directly across the street is a better option.

There are many restaurants in Greenwich Village, west and east and middle. Some are really good. Po is one of them. Alas, "really good" means that it can be challenging to get a table, and Po is no exception to that rule. We had a great dinner here the other evening. Interesting menu. Good service. Most importantly, really good cooking.... More

There are a number of Italian restaurants in the West Village, but Po is a notch above most of the others. Attractive, albeit a bit cramped, space, very professional wait staff, and delicious food! My salad of a goat cheese tartuffo (goat cheese shaped like a truffle and coated with nuts) on a small mound of finely slivered endive and... More

We have never had a bad meal here. It's high quality Italian food served by an attentive wait staff. The white bean bruschetta which is served along with Italian bread is a nice touch. Po was Mario Batali's first entrée onto the NY restaurant scene as its chef. He has since sold his stake and moved on to build his... More

I first visited Po in 1995 when it was run by Mario Batali. 20 years later under a different chef, Po still serves up some of the best Italian food outside of Italy. Bruschetta with white beans arrives as a complementary amuse-bouche. We tried the goat cheese and marinated anchovies for appetizers. Surprisingly, the anchovies had a mellow flavor. Not... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
