Excellent food but crowded and slow

My daughter and I saw Andrew Zimmern eat here on one of his shows and had to try it. It was very crowded and loud and we were seated past our reservation time of 5:30. We ordered the cote de beuf with marrow bones and it was very good. We had a salad with goat cheese that was ordinary and... read more

We walked in off the street with no reservation about 1pm, no table available but we could sit at the bar. Before we had finished reading the menu the hostess said there was now a table available. I ordered the Omelette du jour with salad instead of frites, my husband decided on the Minetta French dip, a beef roll with... More

I went to this place for the Black Label burger. Getting a table is a pain. Even at 10:45 on a Tuesday. I booked by phone and they called me twice before to confirm. Which I guess is fine. But when I got there, albeit early, I had to wait 45 minutes for my table. Anyway, I get it, it's... More

The lighting has a very inviting effect... almost like you've stepped back in time and are eating in the 20's. The food is good... however, all the raving about the Black Label Burger proved not to be so true. Granted, the burger is good; however, I've had better in NYC and for a lot less money. The staff is wonderfully... More

Steak frites delicious - definitely felt as thought we were transported to "old New York" next time I'll have to try the black angus burger.

We went to Minetta without reservations after a show. Arrived at about 11:30 PM. Kitchen is open till 1 I think. Bouncer seated outside the door could have been off putting but not an issue as he opened the door and welcomed us in with nothing more than a nod on our part. Place was very busy but no wait... Definitely not one you should judge by its cover. As you creep through the rough corner facade, you slowly proceed through some-what of a time-warp and emerge into one of the coolest spaces in the city. Service is fantastic and the food was even better. I will definitely be coming back for another Black Label Burger - ridiculous.

We made a reservation at Minetta Tavern during our week-long NYC trip for our elopement. I don't even remember what I mentioned in my OpenTable reservation request, but the host mentioned how sweet and funny it was and made a point of giving us a warm welcome. Next we were greeted at our corner booth with champagne - what a... More

Went here to celebrate by birthday with family specifically for the bone marrow. I seek out places that serve it and order it every chance I get. So what if my arteries are feeling a bit clogged these days! Made a reservation several weeks ahead and guaranteed with a credit card! They said they would charge the card a no-show... More

The host was very nice about finding us a table when we walked in without a reservation. We waited about 15 minutes and got a booth. I love the interior of the MInetta Tavern, from the tile floor to the bar to the portraits on the walls. Three of us had burgers and one had the steak with fries. All... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
