Good burger, good atmoshpere

Attended w my family at year end and place has lots of character with experienced staff and good cuisine. Loved the pictures of Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe! Cuisine seemed tempting but being Europeans we were more willing to try tehir special burger than other more traditional European dishes.

Minetta Tavern does do a cracking burger! If you appreciate a good steak and I'm not talking all you fillet mignon eaters, I'm talking steak with fat in, with flavour! Then the Black label burger is THE burger for you. Made with prime beef cuts it is very very good. Take it medium rare like a good steak and you'll... More

Opened in Greenwich Village in 1937 the Tavern gained it's name after Minetta Brook, which ran from 23rd Street to the Hudson River. It's known as a Parisian steakhouse meets classic New York City tavern. Today we are going to order the black label burger. Hailed as one of the best burgers by many critics it is made from a... We had heard that this place had a brilliant burger. Well, it was bloody brilliant!!! My wife got the standard burger and I got the aged prime burger. Damn delicious. Nice neighborhood haunt. Very historical.

Expensive? Yes. Crowded? Yes. Good Food? Yes. Maybe too much butter on the burger bun? Definitely. Worth going? At least once

There is a lot more to the menu than the burgers, but we were here for a Saturday afternoon with our 22 year old son, who has wanted to try the Black Label Burger.. So we followed, and was not disappointed. The best burger in NYC, it's $30 but worth every penny. The atmosphere is sophisticated, meet fun and relaxed. The... More

we had high expectations for this restaurant and were disappointed. I had the steak frites and roasted cauliflower. Steak was overly salted. Cauliflower was seasoned with a very heavy smoky seasoning which overpowered the vegetable and did nothing to compliment the meal. We did not eat it other than to taste. My husband had the skate dinner special. The fish... More

I love a good burger, I love meat and I also love NYC. Last time I visited I couldn't get a table at this New York institution, haven seen it featured on that show with Anthony Bourdain, it was on the top of my list. This time around I scored a table for two and I knew straight away what... More

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
