Not the best Mexican in the West Village, but very good, nonetheless

Two of us arrived on-time with a 5:45 dinner reservation on a Friday. The bar area was nearly impassable, already jammed several people deep. Few tables were then occupied by diners. When we left almost two hours later (heading to an 8:00 curtain at the Lucille Lortel Theater a few blocks away... read more

We wandered into this Mexican restaurant and Tequila Bar by accident, late on a Saturday evening. We decided to sit outside even though it was a little chilly, as the noise level inside would make conversation nearly impossible. We got great service and excellent food. They offered some great cocktail choices, all based on Tequila or Mescal and those that... More

Packed, very loud and a lovely, smiling cheerful, helpful bartender. My husband had the chili and it was excellent. I had the quinoa salad and it wasn't enough. We sat at the bar and it was fine but the whole place rocked with loud conversation. Very hip in that way it but it could be overwhelming. Tons of staff. I... More

I have been to this place several times. While the food could be better, the drinks especially the frozen margaritas are awesome. Friendly staff and the people at the bar are interesting and friendly as well.

I went with a group in April 2015 to Agave during the week, in hopes for brunch. Unfortunately brunch is only Sat/Sun we found out, but stayed for lunch anyway. We were glad we did. The ingredients and spices used are flavorful if I had to describe. This is probably the best Mexican-style restaurant I have ever been to. The... More

We visited agave for Sunday brunch with friends recently and the wait staff were truly exceptional, so freindly and really on top of their game. The food was tasty and the Mimosas kept coming (on the sunday brunch free refil deal) will look forward to visiting again....

A late dinner after a Broadway show turned into a highlight all on it's own. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. We ended up sharing a few dishes and bottle of wine. Great value!

We were looking for a nice Brunch spot with bottomless mimosas - and we weren't disappointed! Agave served bottomless mimosas, margaritas, and wine. We tried them all :) An excellent pairing to the creative, Mexican-inspired Brunch flare that had our mouths watering from the moment we walked in. We enjoyed both the Herb Speckled Egg Scramble and the Southwestern Eggs... More

Really nice buzz about this restaurant, we had a table by the door which was a bit nippy in New York winter but the atmosphere, great margaritas and food made this a lovely experience! We ate early because of jetlag but it was already busy and seemed like fun even at 6pm, our waitress was really helpful and the food... More

We almost didn't get a table - our own fault for not booking ahead on a bank holiday - but while we waited outside for our friends, a waitress came out and offered us someone else's cancellation, for which we were incredibly grateful! The pre-fix brunch is a great deal, $28 for your choice of breakfast meal and unlimited drinks... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
