This is a small rustic-looking restaurant with a limited menu. There were several "tasting" options, but lots of flexibility in designing your own meal. Wines were quite good, and not overpriced. Service is casual but professional. Our only problem was that the food was not uniformly excellent, as you would expect from this kind of restaurant. Several courses were great... More

Great food, location and ambience. Prices were a bit steep, but not out of range for the Village. Would go again.

Not pretentious. Not too cool. Fantastic food in a lovely setting served by knowledgeable, hospitable people. -written by a New Yorker

I used to live in Greenwich Village years ago and knew all of the old time restaurants, but 50 years later things have changed. The cheap Bohemian spots have moved to Brooklyn, but some new places are big league. Mas, on a quiet Downing Street, is a charming and inventive restaurant. The food is elegant and the wine list shows... More

My wife and I had Valentine's Dinner there celebrating our 25th anniversary. We were staying in the area and the reviews looked amazing, so I booked this well in advance for a late night dinner. There is a lot to like, but clearly some misses here. Here is my objective review: Likes: 1. Great wait staff. Very helpful. 2. Brought... More

My husband and I splurged on the 6 course tasting menu to celebrate my birthday We enjoyed the "compliments of the chef" bites as well as the fish dishes were fabulous! The meat dishes were ok. I would go back an order a fish entrée especially the Sea Bass. Décor was nice and not over done. Service was excellent. It... More

The course menu advertised delicious and interesting combinations, however the Christmas Day dinner did not deliver the expected food. The staff was pleasant, but a restaurant is judged by its food. Overall the food was adequate. Only the menu was inventive.

What a great restaurant. I've waited a long time to be able to fit a reservation into my timing and theirs. The menu had me in a tizzy. I could have eaten each of the items, however the pris fixe menu was not to my liking. We had a divine dinner, sharing a little of each other's choices and were... More

My husband & I enjoyed our 11th year Wedding Anniversary @ Mas and could not have had a more pleasant dining experience. This intimate, farm to table establishment was quite romantic and did not disappoint. The ambiance was perfectly dimmed for our occasion. Everyone was very welcoming & the service was superb! We opted for the Chef's Tasting menu and... More

Week in the city with Mom for her birthday. Met up here with long list cousin for dinner. Great time. Choices of pris fixe, a la carte or tasting menu ( think a French version of omikazi). Food, wine, service and ambience all perfect. Plenty full without being so loud you can't have a conversation. Warm interior and attentive service... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
