Enjoyed a birthday celebration with six family members on Saturday night. The ambience was lovely. Upscale NYC good vibe Food was fabulous and servers were excellent My problem was with a large table being wedged into a corner-tall men were uncomfortable The sommelier needs more instruction in social graces. He was almost argumentative with is opinionsi on wine-he was speaking... More

Have long not been a fan of Mario Batali. I reluctantly agreed to go as my food-loving 13 year old prefers Italian and wanted to have his birthday dinner there. Alas, Babbo has long ago run its course and now simply reflects the institutionalization of his empire. He may give his restaurants different names but they still suffer from the... More

Arriving on time for our 9.15 reservation tonight, the entrance was even more chaotic than usual. A scrummage of dissatisfied diners, trying to get their promised tables, their coats or even more vainly, a drink. Battling to the reservation desk, the guy in charge, who had clearly "had enough" said nonchalantly and curtly "we are running late, come back in... More

Where to begin? The ignorance, the pretense, the shabby service, mediocre food, laughable wine mark-up, the deafening low-brow music? How does the rascal get away with it? I left the restaurant enraged and with a feeling of somehow having been willingly mugged. A far cry from the days when the space was occupied by the serenely fabulous Coach House. The... More

this is a seriously good restaurant. Quite formal, delicious food and very good wine list. Pasta was devine. We had lamb chops and steak for mains. Apple pudding for dessert was very nice. Highly recommended for a special dinner.

There's no doubt that the food here is top-notch, fare that you won't find everywhere and perfectly done. Zero complaints there and if you go just for the food you'll be fine. But its reputation draws crowds so you're going to be packed in and for a fairly expensive meal, that's a little bit of a problem. I also found... More

My wife and I were treated to lunch here as part of a special birthday. When we arrived we had to wait a few minutes for our reserved table to be made available. The downstairs room was packed and noisy. The tables are too close together so, depending on your luck, you may share your neighbours' conversation. We were out... More

Last time I was in NYC (2011) this was the hot reso. I think it is a little easier now, but it is still very popular. While we thought the appetizer's and main were good but not fantastic, the pasta was out of this world. If I went again i would just order tons of pasta with the whole table.... More

Recently dined at Babbo while in NYC. It was absolutely packed. Fortunately, we had a reservation, and were seated immediately. The first floor is terribly noisy. We were fortunate enough to have a very nice table on the second floor. Much quieter. Our meal was memorable, especially the pasta with white truffles, although it had a pricetag of $120. Checked...
