Good food, rushed service

We went to Babbo to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and we enjoyed sitting side by side at our table. There music was a little loud at times and a somewhat odd selection, more for a bar scene than a nice restaurant . Our major complaint was that we felt very rushed... read more

Atmosphere is nice. Disappointing dining experience. Staff is haughty from front to back, wine steward even rolled his eyes when we said we wanted to choose our wine. Menu was lackluster. The entire wait staff scurried around so that you felt the whirlwind activity. "House " wine normally is considered to be a value priced wine everywhere in the world,... More

The food is always spot on, excellent service and the decor comfortable and relaxed. I had my engagement dinner there and it went really well. The Maitre-D held the ring and brought it up himself and delivered on a dish with a cover. It was a nice surprise that went very well. They also wrote congratulations on the desert dish.

We really enjoyed our dinner. I tasted bread stick in the bar which was the best I ever tried. I enjoyed Spagetti with lobster .Their wine menu was very rich. Music in the entrance was good .

If you like Italian food then you should try Babbo. I liked the food really much, it was very good, very tasty, the service was excellent and the wine waiter was really good :)

4 of us (family) went on Mother's Day and we shared 2 appetizers, 4 different main courses and 2 desserts. The food was very good. The waiters were very attentive but not intrusive. The ambiance was great but a bit too dim to see the menu :)

I waited almost 7 years to come here. Got a nice reservation on a Monday night. Glad they're on Opentable now. Chickpea bruschetta amuse bouche was nice. We shared 3 pastas and 2 entrees. The squid ink pasta with shrimp was nice and spicy. The beef cheek ravioli with quail liver was very good. And the mushroom pasta was good.... More

My partner and some friends recently went to Babbo for lunch and it was good. The food was quite good. The waiter was a bit much. They gave me a wrong menu and you'd swear by the apologies that he gave me wrong test results at the doctor or something. Also he was quite friendly at first but when we... More

Having had a fantastic experience at Babbo in the past, we were sorely disappointed on our return tonight. The service was erratic and we actually heard one of the wait staff refer to the food as "this [expletive]" while he walked by us! Unfortunately that was an apt description for some of the food. After appetizers that were OK, our... More

I haven't been to Babbo in years and this trip reminded me exactly why. 1) after being berated by the maitre d to be on time, we waited almost 30 minutes for our table 2) the food is salty, overlooked, over engineered and generally bad. And my meal was cold. 3) since when was the average price of dessert $15+... More

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
