The Thrill is Gone

Babbo was the spot to be for some of the best rustic Italian in NYC. So why does it feel like the grumpy old man on the block? Partially because the front staff are stiff and aloof. Come on, this is not Buckingham Palace for goodness sake. Wait staff makes up for it by providing excellent and warm... read more

We had been wanting to come here for a while since we'd heard such great things. While it was really very nice, we expected more. They open at 5, but they weren't ready to start seating for 10 to 15 minutes. The room is very cozy and the staff was very friendly. The food, when you deciphered what it was,... More

We opted for the pasta tasting menu and riserva wine pairings, which turned out to be a great decision. Each course was wonderful. The waitstaff and the sommelier (Dan) were so helpful in explaining nuances of the food and wine. This was one of our top restaurant experiences of all time. We will return.

We'd been eyeing the Pasta tasting menu at Babbo for our last 3 trips to NYC and finally booked it this past weekend. It was the most delicious meal! The service was top-notch also. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

We had 9:15pm reservations and were seated shortly after 10pm. The only problem is that we waited around in a very crowded area that also served as the bar, it was not the most comfortable place and did not make it possible to have a drink before hand. However, once seated it was a great experience. The waiters are very... More

Great food, good wine list and lovely staff. The only negative came at the end of the meal when we ordered a cheese platter for 4 and got the most minuscule amount of cheese possible. Unfortunately the waiter laughed at our comments on the platter and confirmed many other customers had the same thoughts.

Let me first say that I have been fortunate in my life to have dined in a number of Michelin starred restaurants in my life. I say this not to boast but to point out that I have experienced service at this level a number of times in the past. And sadly, when I visited them, Babbo missed the mark... More

This is how first rate restaurants are supposed to be. A warm, comfortable room, flawless service, perfectly prepared food and beautifully matched wine. We had the Traditional Tasting menu, with the wine pairings, and our dinner was the highlight of our New York City vacation. It could not have been more impressive. Go to dinner here..you'll never forget it.

My daughters took me on a surprise trip to Manhattan last weekend as a birthday celebration. They planned the whole trip and booked dinner on Saturday at Babbo on the advice of a colleague of one of them. I've eaten at some wonderful restaurants in cities both domestically and globally, and I have to say that this was one of... More

Had a great meal with friends, the ambiance is great, the food was fabulous! Great Italian food, Micheline star is well deserved. The Branzino is a must!
