It pains me to give this place average stars - because it has literally been my staple for about 15 years, but they either have a new chef, consulted with someone to cut corners or they have just made some fatal flaws all amounting to mediocre. Let me start by saying I really hope they read this review and go... More

We sat by the open window to enjoy a close up of the parade of various New Yorkers while dining. The seats didn't disappoint. I had the octopus appetizer, very tasty. For our main course my wife and I shared shrimp fajitas. Again very tasty. The service was a little slow at first, but as business picked up and more... More

It was not my first time to this restaurant. Was there again last weekend and had a most wonderful experience. The food was nicely prepared; the service was very good. The waitresses were friendly and welcoming. The Sangria was a steal. I must go back and try the paella. Was the food authentic? Hard to tell, but the overall experience... More

Went out on Saturday night for dinner without RSVP, every other restaurant there was at lease 60 mins wait. Went to Tio Pepe got seated right away, service was prompt, my water glass was never half empty, everyone seems to be in sync with each other. Wonderful service and food was awesome. Best tasting Mexican food I had in a... More

Although it's a great location, with a welcoming atmosphere with all the hundreds of restaurants in Manhattan this is one I would skip. The salsa tasted fresh and had a nice bite but the tri colored chips that accompanied them tasted like they were out of a bag. The seafood soup my friend ordered was cold and watery with a... More

Tio Pepe is the type of place you don't necessarily pick if it's not suggested by someone else, but should never be your go-to for Mexican/Spanish food. So lesson one, make your own choice. Tio, it has a very touristy feel and lacks that "something special" to set it apart in a city with a million other options. The salsa... More

I can't seem to find my previous review of this restaurant but the review was spectacular. Unfortunately things change; our last two visits were horrible on all fronts except for sitting at the open to the street tables and just watching life go by. The menu has changed dramatically since my last review. The change was not for the better;... More

We ordered the Quesadillas Nortenas as appetizers, the Entrecot a la Parrilla for the adults (2) and Pollo al Ajillo for the kid. The quesadillas were fine, just that. The entrecots were indeed delicious, well cooked and quite tasty, accompanied by a nice mix of vegetables (broccoli, carrots and something else) and potato with cheese. On the other hand, service... This is my 3rd time going to Tio Pepe's. 1st time was great, 2nd time was disappointing and this time even worst. The food is bland the service wasnt good and the menu is over priced for no reason. They are very limited to their menu which doesn't give you a great selection of food. Small steak is 36 bucks,... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
