GREAT Italian food! Friendly staff and nice seats inside and outside! Best arancini and caponata in Manhattan!

The service and food were both quite good. My favorite was their Grilled Octopus - prepared very well and not overcooked so it was tender and not tough at all. Was disappointed with their saute spinach though. It came out drenched in oil!!

The food was delicious and we all were sharing bites of our dinners with eachother. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Our friends had their sweet Golden with them so we ate on the patio. Our waiter brought a bowl of water for the doggie guest!

Dined here with family in June... Service was exemplory, food, honestly, the best Italian food I have EVER eaten, particularly the starters and the tastiest Proscuitto EVER!!! I can only say that this restaurant is a great one, and fully deserves its ranking within NYC... Try for yourself today, you wont be disappointed!!

We were relieved when we arrived for dinner after having schlepped several blocks to get here from midtown. We sat outside and each ordered a Birra Moretti. We started with the grilled octopus and some salads. For my main course, I ordered the Spinach Ravioli and my husband ordered the gnocchi. It was a satisfying meal and the service was... More

We have eaten at Rafele many times. We have had birthday parties here, larger groups of friends and just us as a couple. Every time the food is wonderful and the service is excellent. From the meatball or fried artichoke appetizers to every pasta (I have tried them all) it is a culinary delight. Most recently we had the seafood... More

Great Italian food in a very nice, open restaurant that you can bring the whole family to. Was easy to get a table with the trade off being that it requires a short walk from the nearest subway stop. Prices are average for New York. Service was excellent on the night we were there (Monday). Tables are available both inside... More

I would have rated this spot higher if the following two things were true: 1. the food had been better; and, more important, 2. the staff had taken seriously a seating request I had made in advance. Because of a hearing condition, I always inquire about music levels in restaurants before I make a reservation. I had done so at... More

The food is good, Italian for the most part, and the service good as well. Prices are a little below fine dining prices, so decent value for an upscale place. Only two blocks from the Houston Metro on the Red Line.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
