Mixed thoughts about this place, its tiny with too many tables so very cramped, the staff are a bit functional rather than friendly and they are busy on weekends with breakfast and you get the impression that they want you to eat up and leave, On the positive side the full monty English breakfast was very good as was the... My husband really wanted some tea and scones today, and since it was his birthday I decided to let him have his way for a change. Here are my thoughts. The good: -- Scones are better than average. -- Jam is even better than better than average. I was literally eating it straight up. -- Tea selection is large and... More

Returned to Tea & Sympathy after 9 years and found it hadn,t really changed much. Still a cosy little place to sit and enjoy scones or a snack. Last visit the Sausages, Mash and Onion gravy was to die for. This visit found the Mash not up to scratch unfortunately. The desserts with custard were a pure delight. Stilton and... More

I returned from London and Cotswold villages 3 weeks ago. Their good is fresh in my memory. This little spot is Spot On for English scones and tea. Cost is $12.50 for a pot of tea flavor your choice and 2 scones. The texture of the scones and ask lady to warm them and the quality of the clotted cream... More

The restaurant didn't open until 11am and we were quite happy to sit on the bench outside to wait but I was surprised by the staff going in and out and not even a "good morning" from them. Once inside, I found the staff to be a little rude. To me, the scone was very disappointing but the tea was... More

We stopped by A Salt and Battery next door for some delicious fish & chips and decided to check out Tea & Sympathy next door. So glad we did! Got some of my favorite English chocolates! :) Definitely a happy surprise to find.

The restaurant had 10 tables (that seats 23) and only 2 of them were occupied but the staff would not seat my group of 5 until one of the occupied tables were vacated. After waiting outside for nearly half an hour, we left for another restaurant. At no time where they even remotely apologetic for having us wait or even... More

This is a genuine British restaurant and it serves genuine British food with an authentic British attitude! If you are looking to get the best breakfasts (with baked beans) or you want a traditional Sunday lunch then look no further. I have been eating here for two decades now and they have never let me down.Sometimes the owner gets her... More

Miserable and rude staff. The shop was shut and didn't open until 11am.....on a Saturday too! So I was going to wait and have a cup of tea in the tea room but was (rudely) informed that I couldn't and that there was a minimum spend so I'd have to have breakfast. I understand this concept, they want to make... More

This is a perfect spot for a proper British breakfast. Beans on toast, bangers, real bacons, and a pot of tea. They only seat 23 people and so come early. It is an ideal place our 2 or 3 people but not large groups. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I thought it was a... More
