We were in the neighborhood, but didn't have any reservations. Found the restaurant though the TripAdvisor-app for New York and took a chance. It's a small restaurant - but we managed to snag the last free table. The food was awesome. Whenever we visit somewhere new we always try to find an Indian-restaurant, and we almost always have the Chicken... More

Whenever my girlfriend and I travel to a new city we always try to find a good Indian restaurant, and luckily we stumbled upon the MasalaWala. The food was delicious and affordable. The staff and owner was really friendly. The restaurant is a bit small, so it might be smart to book ahead. Really happy we found this place, and... More

If a tiny Indian restaurant on Essex Street off Houston Street is rated 81st of almost 12,000 restaurants in New York City, you immediately know that this place has to be special. And it is. We went there recently for the first time and the food was remarkably better than any of the hundreds of other Indian places in its... More

Went here on our last night in the US. The owner was so welcoming but not overbearing, the food was delicious and authentic. Would recommend to anybody!

I went there with my girlfriend Last week. The service was excellent, the owner came to talk to us as if he had known us for years and all the waiters were very friendly. We had the Samosa for appetizers and we each took lamb curry for the main course. Everything was great but we especially loved the samosa! Also,... More

We did a house swap in the Lower East Side for 7 days. early into our stay we walked over to MasalaWala. It's not too big nor too small. The owner casually greeted us and then after the meal asked us how it was. The staff was great and more importantly, the food was amazing. A friend joined us from... More

I have missed good Indian food, because I live in Vancouver. So when I went here, I stuffed my face. The food was tasty. Try it.

This is the best Indian food we have ever had. The food was fresh and the owner greets everyone and offered free dessert and wine. Great service and flavorful food! The frozen mango dessert was amazing. Highly recommend! Go meet MasalaWala!

It's difficult to get authentic good curry in Manhattan. This place delivers both. We had chicken tandoori and chicken saag, both were fresh and tasty. If you've never had south-East Asian food this is a good place to start.
