Fantastic Indian restaurant! This tiny, charming hole in the wall houses some of the yummiest Indian food I've ever had. The samosas were delish as were all the classic dishes (we ordered the rogan josh and tikka masala). The waiter was friendly and helpful recommending delicious dishes. Add to that the wonderfully kind owner. This place is a sure bet.

This was our second visit to this small but atmospheric restaurant. The gaffer is an exceptionally welcoming host who really enjoys his role and his enthusiasm is infectious. The food is excellent and the service just right. Very good value and highly recommended. Hope to return.

Let me say first that I eat and cook a lot of indian food. I visited the restaurant whilst I was visiting New york because I was at a gig around the corner and it had a good rating on tripadvisor. The food is awful. Flat, greasy naan and poppadoms that looked like they had been microwaved. The two curry... More

We stayed near Times Square so it was a little bit long drive but well worth it, I have tried many Indian in NYC and this is definitely one of the best. It is a small place packed with great service and excellent food. The wine list is small but yet satisfies even the avid wine enthusiast. Mr. Masala Wala... More

I was very curious to try this restaurant but I'm left disappointed, the food was substantially too sweet and too spicy, all the dishes taste the same......This is not the real Indian kitchen, they can doing better in the future! Waiters was friendly and the restaurant little but nice.....Not the same for the quality of the food not so agreeable.

Probably the worst curry I have had the misfortune to eat , a ready meal would be better, would not recommend at all .

Very good value for money, authentic taste, friendly, speedy and attentive service. Pleasant atmosphere. Many locals, not only tourists.

I must admit that I was somewhat skeptical of The Masalwala’s high rating here. However, the restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel and we both had a hankering for Indian food - something that isn’t readily available to us at home. Thankfully, I’d made a reservation earlier in the day because the place was full when we arrived.... More

First off, this place gives a joyous vibe. The owner's personal attention and sheer pleasure in hosting carries over to his staff. It's like a devil-may-care ride on the Bombay to Delhi express. Each plate was delivered hot off the tandoor oven... and truly delicious. Garlic naan, lamb biryani, chicken tiikka all loaded with flavor. Happy folks loving their food... More
