Got here early for an evening meal. When I made a reservation there weren't many time options and yet when we turned up the restaurant was empty?! The service was decent, very efficient but not super friendly. The food was good, the chicken in our curries was tender but there wasn't any white meat. The starters (samosas and bahjis) were... A small restaurant, not much from the outside - but the food!!!! Large portions, not too strong. I can recommend the chicken korma. And do try their special frozen mango for dessert. Also notice the very polite and attentive service.

Very, very disappointing. The food was bland - my curry was just chewy pieces of chicken in a bowl of unflavoured cream. Waiters were disinterested and paid far more attention to the table of young women next to us. Bill was over $60 and the biggest waste of money in our 3 week trip to the USA.

I'm an amateur when it comes to Indian food, but I new this was better than average Indian. I had chicken in a garlic-curry yoghurt sauce, and it was amazing. I was very glad I went with mild; even that had a kick to it. Everyone agreed that this was great food. They were very accommodating; we showed up at... More

Manchurian chicken & the curries are to die-for, great lassi, and I was amazed at how fast the service was. Priced slightly higher than expected but that's what you get if you want to eat in Manhattan... We tried a lot of different dishes & I was impressed with each & every one of them. Highly recommended!

With a warm welcome and great food we really enjoyed our time in this restaurant. Lot of good stuff on the menu. Do not hesitate to ask for suggestions :) they proved to be worth it for me.

We got stuck in a NYC traffic jam and started wondering if it is worthwhile to make the trip to East Village which was far from where we were staying...but boy weren't we glad that we didn't go back. The place is small, but the ambience is charming. The food is not the typical run of the mill Indian stuff.... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
