A Place out of the Past

This place was a delight, and entertaining. Counter seating mainly (10 seats), two tables near the back. Felt like I had stepped back in time into an old movie. The diner was clean and very busy. The coffee was very good. There were three staff there doing it all in full view of everyone. The... read more

VERY disappointing breakfast.. I ordered 3 Scrambled Eggs and well done ham. Expecting nice yellow fluffy eggs I received eggs that were browned (left on the grill to be scorched) and the ham just fried regular, not well done at all. So I guess there are different cooking standards for ham then there is eggs... When I questioned him that... More

Ate here several times with my family and as always it was great. Four lumberjack breakfasts (stack of pancakes, two eggs and some bacon) and four drinks wasn't even $48 and the pancakes are huge, cooked right on the griddle in front of you and they taste amazing. Proper little New York diner with big portions and a friendly atmosphere. Would... More

Very tasteful pancakes, good coffee in a very accessible location. Definitely one of the best-value for money breakfast in New York. Staff is polite and attentive to the customers (much more polite than many fancy places around NYC). Fully recommended

Johnny's is fantastic. Simple, home cooked food. A local's joint that makes you feel you stepped into a scene out of Seinfeld or something. Johnny is super friendly - everyone who comes in seems to know and love him and he seems to remember everyone. Either by name or association. The food is no frills, but good, hearty and quick.... One of the smallest NYC restaurants I've been in but totally worth waiting for a seat. Great food and service. Definitely will go back.

I brought my wife to Johnnys because I had such a great experience in a previous trip. Place is small and perfect. Clean and fast service in a hectic diner atmosphere. TONS of menu items from the "big man" to egg white omelette wraps for the healthier people We love ot

Wow. That's all I can say about Johnny's Luncheonette place... It's a typical diner-like breakfast establishment, 10 seats, a long bar, behind it Johnny and two helpers fix breakfasts for anyone who enter. The menu has a lot of choices, the service is quick and good, they make everything on the spot so you can't really say that things were... More

Came here because of all the great reviews. Very New York. Very inviting. As if you're going back in time to the days before all the fancy cafe's. The Starbucks. And all the corporate chains. Had a great authentic/original breakfast! Pancakes, eggs, and sausage!! Perfectly done. Includes coffee until 11:30 am. I will be going back when I am in... More

My wife found this place online (Yelp?) so we figured we'd give it a try for breakfast one morning, during our trip to NYC. It's a little hole in the wall, greasy spoon place, with the key word being greasy...in the food, in the air (we walked out smelling from food smoke, which permeated the place). At one point the...
