So glad we stumbled into this place last year. Paid a return visit last week, and wasn't disappointed. Seats about 20 lucky people. This place has it all -- good, basic food (we were there for breakfast both times), terrific prices, attentive staff, and watching the cook get those orders out in breakneck speed was something to see. When visiting... More

Typical nyc diner. Very small so you can expect a lineup if you go at peak hours. We got the curious George and the 2-egg platter. Food was decent. Nothing special but also not bad. The fries were too broken up for my taste but that's ok. The young guy there (I assume owner) was very friendly and welcoming. Great... More

This is a classic luncheonette experience. Giant plates of grilled food served in a no-nonsense location. There is one row of counter stools across this small restaurant. We arrived just in time as the line was out the door shortly thereafter. Service is hardly "with a smile" as the folks behind the counter are rushing and scrambling to meet the... More

Visiting for Christmas shopping trip. Hotel was around the corner. A very small diner, but able to get a seat. Service was friendly and quick. Food was very good.

A tiny diner that doesn't look all that appealing but gave me the best blueberry pancakes I've ever had. The coffee was better than I expected too. Service was typical for New York. Overall definitely going back.

Feeling lucky at getting a seat - there are only thirteen in the whole place - might have heightened our experience of Johny's Luncheonette but I don't think so. Authentic atmosphere, a solid, good value menu and full of locals. I'm not sure what else you could want from a New York diner.

Awesome place to have breakfast in NY. Great food and easy to get to. The only tip I could offer folks is that this place is really tiny so eating with a group (of two or more) is not advisable. Also this place only accepts cash. Besides that this place is a must go for breakfast in the city.

We're used to having amazing food when in New York - but Johny's Luncheonette is by far the best breakfast we've had in the city! Tiny space, not exactly comfortable seating (along the counter), however, the food is amazing! They've got the smallest space for cooking the food, but a huge menu - so many options! Amazing value for money... More

Who would have known, without reading reviews. This hole-in-the-wall was a great find. The food, service, friendliness, and price cannot be beat...anywhere. A small old-fashioned diner with everything and anything you'd want for breakfast. I had a feta-spinach omelette. It included toast, home fries and a bottomless cup of coffee. Perfect! The blueberry pancakes on the grill looked scrumptious. Counter... More
