Truly Decadent

For a truly decadent treat, do not pass up the opportunity to go to Laduree for a macaron, or a palmier (or two). Flown in from Paris daily, these macarons are the standard by which all others are judged - and they never fail to win!

They were too sweet for me, distracting me from the real flavors, e.g. Coffee, tea, cherry etc. For $ 2.8a piece of 3cm diameter macaron i expected more. The box was very beautiful. The store inviting.

La Durée is definitely the Master of it! Each La Durée location has the same perfect macaroon! Rasberry is my long time favorite!

Laduree is known for having the best macarons on the planet, and the patisserie in NYC does not disappoint. Try all the macarons, including the ones you think you wouldn't like based on the names/flavors, because the will surprise and delight you. The treats are transcendentally light and delectably sweet. Highly, highly recommended.

Beautiful looking macaroons. Beautiful packaging. Wonderfully friendly staff. Beautiful store. The macaroons are fresh and good tasting; but nothing to write home about. Quite average as macaroons go. The only difference is the price, which is rather steep for what you're getting. On the other hand, the packaging is very beautiful. So, perhaps it is worth a try, if you... More

Raspberry and pistachio flavors are so delicious. Coffee flavor, i really enjoyed it because it is not too sweet. The service was excellent.

Decided to finish off a meal with desert at Laduree's Soho location. Must admit to being a bit surprized to see velvet ropes in from of a pastry shop, but there was no line to get in. While famous for their macarons, they had many classic pastries. We enjoyed the Millefeuille Rhum, the Plaisir Sucre and the Carre Chocolate. They... More

I've visited laduree in Paris many times. I've also been to Cannes and the concession in Nice. I was dubious that NYC could deliver to my expectations. I was wrong to doubt them. Lovely staff, served me delicious macarons. I didn't feel rushed as per the usual NYC standard of servitude. Super!

In comparison to Pierre Herme, it really is nothing special. At least this NYC branch. I heard the macaroons are flown here from Paris and that might be the reason for the average taste. Haven't tried Laduree in Paris, but the NYC one is really not worth it.

Had a business meeting here-- came in too late for dinner but made it for wine and dessert. Macaroons are amazing-- very light and flavorful. Staff was amazing and very helpful in pointing out the different choices. So many desserts in French-- they were great at the descriptions and we ended up with ordering a wide variety of things and... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
