Great Atmoshpere, Delicious Food

Through the intriguing pawn shop entrance, you enter to an eclectic and glamourous restaurant with a chic bar to complement the crowd. Service was very good, and the menu offered a nice variety of delectable food. The eggplant pizzette and Beauty & Essex burger are must-trys!

You enter through a street shop and there you are, in another world!! Very good food and ambiance! Worth a try! As many restaurants in NYC, very loud place, but as we were a group, we had the chance to seat in a private room. Amazing experience!

Cleverly disguised hidden behind a pawn shop- it's almost amazing when you go through the back door and enter a world of luxury and decadence. The setting is very cosy chic. Loved everything about this place. From its buzzing bar vibe to the really good food. I went on a Monday night at 10pm and it was still busy as... More

My wife and I went for my birthday dinner here with friends and had an amazing time! The food Is fantastic it's so hard to choose but thankfully they have lots of sharing plates to share with the table. The Mac and cheese with lobster is insane as are the short ribs - just fall off the bone tender. Great... More

From the entrance which is an actual pawn shop with suspiciously well-dressed staff to the amazing restaurant that is behind the door, Beauty & Essex has an element of theatre and surprise. It's a restaurant that has so many great elements. A show stopping winding stair case. The upstairs bar has a very plush lounge area and the cocktails are... More

We visited for Sunday brunch with a group of 10 and sat at a the most beautiful table in the restaurant. Food was very well presented and good. Location is odd to say the least.

What can I say, I love this place - from the entrance to the decor inside to the music. I haven't even mentioned the food yet which by the way was also brilliant. This is now going to be a regular whenever I am in NY.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
