I'm a New York City tour guide who lives on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. I love the restaurants in the neighborhood but especially Nick's. Nick opened his original restaurant on Broadway in 1962. He told me once that back then the women were coming out of the windows and landing on the sidewalk. I asked incredulously, "You're saying that... More

We chose Big Nick's for our first lunch stop after we arrived to our hotel on the UWS. The reviews are spot on. The food was very good. We had pizza, the Zapata burger, and giant hot dog with cheese. Everyone was happy with their choices. My youngest son wolfed down the hot dog and said it was great. The... More

What a great experience! Arrived at about 10pm after arriving in city, I ordered a pizza and my son a bacon cheeseburger, after his first bite he said this is the best one I've ever had, even better than yours. My pizza was delicious! My only regret is that I didn't eat here any other night that I was in... More

Our group ordered a succulent made-to-order burger, a plate full of hot steak fries, and an overstuffed gyro in a pita. The service was good and the food was delicious. The price was reasonable. The dining room is small and cramped in the typical UWS way. The dated wall signs add to a truly retro vibe.

Real New York character, with vintage photos and signs; friendly staff and reasonably priced, good food. Loved the eggplant parmigiana!

Hotter inside than out. Quick and attentive service. The whole wheat crust pizza was not as good as the regular. Slices are big. Toppings on the pizza are taken seriously - plenty of them. Excellent mozzarella and tomato salad!

Out on the Upper West Side late? Maybe out for drinks and needing a burger or pizza? This is the place. Straight-forward, tasty. Well-priced. Noting fancy. They do have a huge burger on the menu and it was all reasonable.

A typical greasy spoon with friendly service and OK food. The pizzas were at best average. If you really need a pizza there is Francesco's a few blocks south on Columbus. Much better pizzas and about the same level of service.

Five of us stopped for lunch. Each had a different type of burger (other sandwiches and pizza on the menu) Waffle fries were hot and fresh. I had a supreme burger with cheddar, grilled onions and bacon. Get extra napkins they are juicy! Casual place. Never felt rushed. A cousin lives nearby and gets delivery from here frequently. After eating... More

The Russian waitress was very nice and patient with us and the Burgers came out really tasty. Bacon was great! Fries felt fresh and were also tasty. It is my second time on this burger joint (i was the first time in the previous location of Big Nick's which had more charismatic look that now).
