Although we made a reservation, the restaurant was quiet when we arrived. It is on the second floor of an office building a bit strangely located but once inside offered that quirky Japanese environment. Udon soup is fantastic and the sushi roles fresh. Saki of course and tea were served. The food is excellent, I'd come back.

Kirakuya offers very good food (Japanese), Excellent Service, and a comfortable place to sit down and get away of the crowds. Daily and Evening Specials. The trick is not to blink, because you'll miss the entrance. Along 32nd street among all the restaurants, is a door that leads to and elevator and stair case. Kind of creepy. You'll think you're... I attended the "Rare Sake Event" last night at Kirakuya Sake Bar and it was an eye opener. We tasted 3 different kinds of rare sake which I had never tasted before and they were all so amazing! One of them was especially special I ended up buying a bottle home! People in this restaurant are SO nice and we... More

I tasted sake before in several places but I didn't really enjoy it honestly so I thought I was not a sake person. HOWEVER, after I tried the sake at Kirakuya, I just can't stop thinking about it. Kirakuya is located in Midtown. Once you get in, you feel like you were in a totally different place. I mean..just hard... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
