i know most crazy people don't eat soup in the hot summer. but me. i do. its really good. a complimentary swiss burger and fries to top it off. the atmosphere is cozy and quaint, almost like an understated wine bar. if you go it when its quiet, i almost feels romantic. really pretty exposed red brick wall on one... Good, unpretentious food, friendly staff, generous portions, reasonably priced. Well worth a visit, especially if you're staying at the Hilton Garden across the road (39, Avenue of the Americas). A great place for a relaxed meal.

The food here is excellent, reasonably priced and well portioned. The staff are cool people and all helpful. The place has a great vibe and has a comfortable restaurant and a busy bar. I actually want to take this place home with me. Check the mussels and popcorn shrimp with a few beers, enough to go around the table and... More

Looking for a reasonable, comfortable, affordable place to end the day in Tribeca/SoHo area, and ended up here due to a recommendation from the Hotel. LOVED IT. LOVED THE FOOD. LOVED THE PRICE (by manhattan standards…) even had a couple of Gluten Free options for me. Lots of other home-style choices and a few out of the ordinary on the... More

We stayed at the TriBeCa Grand Hotel and 'Souths' became our little local! We ate in there a few times and the food was always excellent, nothing fancy but always tasty. Atmosphere really nice and good service. Food prices are very reasonable in comparison to other bars and restaurants in the area. Drinks were good too, not much choice on... More

Souths was just over the road from our hotel we stayed at Grand Tribeca. Proper felt like a true American bar like you see in movies :) which was great. What I loved about this place above anything else was the staff. Very friendly and we had some great chats with Dillon and he also gave us recommendations on where... More

No pretensions, just a really good meal in a relaxed environment. Service and food were excellent; a good choice of starters, lunch and entrees to be had. Nothing fancy but nothing bland. I particularly like the theater seating along the back wall; very comfortable. Go, you wont be disappointed or hungry at the end of the meal. If you do... More

Neighborhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighborhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighborhood home.
