Ode to Le France on November 13

We came to taste the dishes before our trip to Paris for a feel of the food on 11/13. It was a great feel.. The restaurant is a small establishment for hells kitchen but its what NYC is meant for without the big chains. We had the small plates which was plentiful and the better deal. Try the... read more

We made last reservations on a Friday night, literally hours before we got into the city and had no problem and were seated promptly. The restaurant is cramped, and does not have a double door entrance, meaning any tables by the front door (basically a third of the restaurant) have direct access to the chilly winter air, every time someone... Spent 5 days in NY in January 2016. Just off Times square. Found La Carafe after looking round for good value restaurants. What a great place, we had the special, Steak, Fries and salad with a glass of wine, $21. Very tasty food, lovely place and a great ambiance. Run by a very friendly Fench lady. Will definately visit again... More

We called in here on Christmas Day. Louisa the host was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a dirty martini and then some great French wine. Louisa invited us back for New Years Eve and we had a fantastic time. Great food from a prix fixe menu, champagne, music and lots of laughs. Best New Year in a long time! Thank... More

We stopped in here for a bite to eat before the theatre on a recent visit. It is a lovely, small French-feeling spot, very comfortable and intimate. The staff were very helpful and attentive. They serve wine by the carafe (as well as by the glass and bottle) which was great for us as a bottle may have been a... More

The staff are friendly and very attentive, in attractive surroundings. The food is very tasty and the specials are great value as on some you get a free glass of wine.If you are hungry the 3 course special is worth a try also the mussels were very popular when we visited. The wine is a bit expensive. This is a nice French bistro.

I wish the menu had a few more items but we enjoyed what we had. Outstanding escargot, good mussels, Foie Gras was very good. Salmon was very noice as was my steak au poivre. Great service as we were rushed to get to show.

I was meeting friends for a pre theater dinner. I got there at 5:00. The place was empty. I laughed when they asked if I had reservations , but I did for 5:45. Within 20 minutes the place was packed. They suggested I take my table instead of waiting at the bar. So glad I did! We had escargot and... More

Louisa is a friendly French manager who is welcoming, and complements the cooking. Now, a real score would be 7/10, but 3 out of five is too low, and 4 out of five too many. Try the fois gras, and steak frite. Watch the wine, as it is expensive. Lunch specials include a glass of wine for about $20.

On a summer night, with the front doors open, you can sit inside on 8th Avenue and almost feel like you're outdoors in a French bistro. Not necessarily a Paris bistro, but still. We love this spot for dinner before or after a show, as it's just a block or two from Broadway. Give me the steak and frites and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
