A Diner Experience in the Middle of Manhattan

An authentic diner experience right in the middle of Manhattan. The pancake special (blueberries and strawberries) were excellent; the omelette and home fries were very good; the challah French toast was almost good - the middle was still mushy. Get a seat up front! The seating in the back is... read more

Had "Mom's Meatloaf" here it was cold in the center & the mashed potatoes had this horrible looking consistency of a milkshake. I think that Mom ought to check to see what is going on in that kitchen and bring Gordon Ramsey with her.Might help to figure out that "B" rating on the window. If it weren't for the tourists having... While visiting NYC stopped here for breakfast. Don't know if the severer was having a bad day or not but usually with bad service you at least could enjoy your meal. It was ok. The potatoes tasted as if they were under a heat lamp hours prior to my ordering them. The bacon was room temp but the pancakes and... More

This is a quintessential diner experience as we want to remember it from the mythical 50's. Decor is perfect, menu is predictable, service is friendly if slow, coffee is strong -- and there isn't a bit of kale or tofu in sight. Perfect. I had the New Yorker, a huge plate of bagel, salmon etc that I was unable to... More

Sure, it's full of tourists from Grand Central area hotels, but we were tourists in a Grand Central area hotel. And sure, the breakfast rush (or even the late morning brunch rush!) were pretty slow, and it was the kind of diner where the easy way to get silverware is to just steal it from another table. But my breakfast... More

Our second visit to NYC and we had to revisit The Comfort Diner following several fantastic breakfasts last year. We were pleased to see that nothing has changed and the food is still top-notch! The chunky monkey pancakes of the day (banana, choc chip and pecan) were just amazing!!! It is definitely worth visiting on the weekend as well for... More

We were hoping to find a little local diner for dinner When we arrived the place was empty however, we had just arrived into town and were hungry. The staff was friendly and helpful but the food was very average. Try breakfast or lunch.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
