Good local diner

To be frank its nothing much to look at from the outside, and the interior could probably do with a makeover - but this is a real deal locals diner. Even though its fairly close to Grand Central this is a diner that caters to local Manhattan workers. Its unpretentious but on my visit was efficient... read more

I would recommend visiting The Comfort Diner for breakfast. The food was delicious. I had the berry stuffed french toast, and my brother had an egg and cheese omelet and the granola with yogurt. Everything we had tasted great. I can't speak to the lunch or dinner options but the judging from the breakfast, I would give it a try.... More

We were staying a few doors down so decided to try it for lunch. Very diner-like atmosphere, fun to look around at the decor. We had their signature salad and mac and cheese bites. Both were very good. Sandwiches looked good as well. We didn't make it back for breakfast, but it looked very good!

This is your typical diner with ok food and service. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and a biscuit. The pancakes were great, but the biscuit was hard and not very good. The service was lackluster mostly because he had too many tables and seemed pretty busy. All in all, I probably would not go back here. There are too... More

I don't like eggs and most diner menus present a challenge when I eat breakfast out. My companions ordered egg specials which they loved. I loved the Belgian Waffle and the French Toast is even better. The diner is old and doesn't look like much but the food is good as is the coffee and service.

Visited for lunch on a Monday and was immediately seated. The service was excellent and attentive. The huervos rancheros may be he best in NYC -- cooked to perfection. The menu is diverse and prices were good (perhaps low for midtown). Breakfast all day.

Best breakfast we had all week in New York, corned beef hash and eggs, lovely. Nice friendly atmosphere, good prices, enjoyed.

During a recent visit to New York, we ate here every morning. We chose it by chance, because it was only a short walk from our hotel. I cannot pretend that we ate a variety of things from the menu; we chose the Lumberjack every morning - and every morning it was delicious! Fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, maple syrup, tasty... More

As a non NY resident, these people make me feel like a "regular". I will be here EVERY time I come to the city. Great food, great staff and a cool place to boot.

I'm an airline crewmember that travels the country and I stay in quite a few hotels. I always try to avoid hotel restaurants in that they are expensive and lack character. I enjoy finding "mom and pop" places where I stay. The doorman at my hotel recommended this place. The food was good, and service prompt and friendly. I had... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
