excellent restaurant near theaters

We went for a pre-theater dinner - location extremely convenient. The food was excellent and, kn the prix fixe menu we ordered, a great value. Service was impeccable, and a sense of generosity prevailed - lots of octopus in the octopus salad, wine by the glass was a full glass, etc. Highly... read more

Exceptional service, good quality dishes in an extremely chic (french after all!) setout, and can even offer a nice bonus surprise for birthday tourists (hail Tito Rahman)...

After reading a glowing review in the 2013 edition of Zagat, I expected more. The restaurant is situated off the beaten track. While the decor of the room was pleasant enough, the noise level was very high. I could hear all the conversations of other tables in the room. The food was a bit mediocre and not up to the... More

This is one of those special little places that you cannot pass up. Located near the theatre area the Restraunt is a nicely quaint gem in New York. I have eaten here now on 3-4 occasions and both the food and service are always fantastic. The owners are extremely friendly and go the extra mile to provide an enjoyable dinning... More

Very creative cuisine. The fois gras baklava was amazing. The crunch and slight sweetness of the baclava paired perfectly with the seared fois gras. The lobster poached in butter was delicious however the accompanying vegetables were ice cold and had to be sent back to be heated. I expect to pay 150.00 per person at fine restaurants in NYC, but... More

My husband and I dined here as part of our dinner/theater anniversary celebration. The location is very convenient for dinner before a show, we had reservations for 5:30. The outside of the restaurant is rather understated and could be deceiving, but once inside it was modern and elegant, dimly lit and perfect for a romantic dinner. We started with the... More

The interior is very modern and in a basement-like area... We sat in the little courtyard out back. The outside area was fine, but the entire experience was lack-luster. My salad with melon had a fan of melon slices cut so thin they were flavorless and texture less. You could read the newspaper through them! No flavor in the salad... More

We went there with a baby sleeping in its stroller. Not only did they welcome us in with the stroller by the table, we got our own room with dimmed light and lowered background music. Food tasted great, we had the fixed price three course dinner. Would definitely recommend this place to people with or without children.

Sleek, modern decor and smooth service. The prix fixe dinner was excellent. Only part of the amuse bouche, a shrimp fritter was great; the other part was iffy...cilantro soup.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
