My husband and I dined at Red Rooster during our Christmas trip to NYC. We loved the food, the service and the atmosphere. The restaurant is a little crowded and loud, but the great service and food make up for it many times over. We started with cornbread and devilled eggs. I'm not usually a big fan of cornbread, but... We just walked back east on 125th to our apartment on a warm winter evening. The restaurant was packed with Christmas Eve customers and very busy. An old couple, we were placed at a comfortable table between dining rooms with a nice view of both sides of the business. As they were very busy, it took a long time to... More

After hearing so much about Red Rooster my husband and I finally got a reservation. The food was great, however the resturaunt was way too crowded, and the table were so close together. Our waiter Leon, was very knowledgeable and guided us to some great menu choices.

We've been there for lunch and we had a beautiful experience. The place is really nice and clean. We love restaurants where you can see the kitchen and appreciate how the chef works and how accurate and clean is the personnel working with him. Food is really good and tasty. We ate meatballs and salmon, which are very good, but... More

I'm a Harlemite and knew the original Red Rooster on Seventh Avenue. Maybe I was wrong to expect an homage to the original. I didn't care for the food at all -- and I ate there twice -- lunch and then dinner another occasion. The tourists seemed to like the cuisine. Nouvelle Soul Food -- not my preference.

We enjoyed a very good meal - Duck in 3 ways. And the corn bread is to die for! The service was also superb. Good wine menu as well.

Red Rooster is a great restaurant to spend some time with friends or family. The ambiance is super pleasant and relaxing, and the staff never rushes you. My friends and I come here for leisurely lunch and drinks every Friday after Thanksgiving, and the place has proved consistent. I would rate the drinks and ambiance very highly, and excellent staff,... More

Just too good! Was there on their Monday night with their house band digging out the grooves ... And boy, do you jive when the dig the tunes like that. Did eventually get a table (hint: book in advance!); but no complaints on a long wait as the music was hot and the Harlem mule (with its zinger bit of... More

Had a wonderful lunch at the Red Rooster. Chef Marcus Samuelsson was in house, and signed his newest cook book for me. Funky place with five star service and food. Hard to explain to people.....It's Ethiopian/Swedish soul food.....Really! The combination of the plates served is what makes it so special. Helga's meat balls are good...Combined with the fresh butter pickles,... More

I have been to Red Rooster three times now and I can honestly say they have some of the tastiest food in all of NYC! Its hard to believe that their owner is a famous television chef, as this restaurant is not pretentious in the least, and they have some of the best soul food I have ever eaten anywhere... More
