Southern cuisine with an Ethiopian flair in Harlem

Had lunch here. Make a reservation, you'll need it. Ambiance is nice, noise level is low, service is great, food is wonderful. We had meat balls, mac and greens, yard bird, donuts, to mention just a few dishes. Everything tasted great. We'll be back.

This is one of the coolest and best restaurants in all of Manhattan. Great food, vibe and music. We loved the catfish, Swedish meatballs mashed potatoes and Mac and greens. Sweet potato donuts were fantastic too. Can't wait to go back. I just wish they had valet parking.

My cousin always wanted to go to this resturant. So we traveled from Mid town Manhattan to Harlem . The atmosphere is wonderful. The hostess was very kind and seated us right away. I ordered the Yardbird and a soda. 30 bucks. . It was ok but I think you are paying for the privilege of dining instead of actually... More

Visited The Rooster for lunch with My family. It's located in vibrant Harlem and well worth a visit. The chef is of course Swedish and even though I have eaten tons of meatballs, the ones I tried here was truly exceptional. The staff was attentive and charming.

The place has great food with a uniquely vibrant atmosphere with live music. More suited for a younger artsy crowd. A little noisy if you seek conversation but fun.

I was excited to visit Marcus Samuelson's gem in Harlem. I heard about this yard bird that was supposed to be the next big thing in nouveau cuisine -- it wasn't ! The bird was tough and dry and in need of some serious gravy to get it down. The atmosphere however, is beautiful!!! Gorgeous! The ambiance can't be beat.... More

We nearly missed this restaurant as it appeared empty on the outside but once we went inside the place was buzzing. This was a cold winters Friday afternoon in Harlem, we did not have a reservation but they managed to fit us in. We did have to wait but it was understandable as the place was very busy on a... We were a party of 4 with dinner reservations for 10;30 pm and we got there early at 10:15 and were seated by the waiter who then announced we had to oder quickly as the kitchen was about to close. He did not take our drink orders and it took two requests to get our drink orders taken. I was... More

Second time to Red Rooster, and still packed! Reservations are the way to go. Great drinks, and great band playing in the bar. Fried chicken is still some of the best around, but we also got the pork shoulder (crazy tender!) and meatballs (an homage to chef's Swedish upbringing). Desserts also great. If you have the choice, try not to... More
