Description: The Statler Grill harkens back to the golden age of the big band era, and is named after Ellsworth Statler, who ran the Hotel Pennsylvania from 1919 to 1954, when musicians such as Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Glenn Miller played at the Cafe Rouge, the hotel's main dining room. The Statler serves classic New York steakhouse prime steaks and chops as well as daily delivered fresh seafood, while the bar and lounge serve a delicious grill menu. Located just steps away from Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden, it is the perfect place to have a breakfast meeting, a meal before an event at the Garden, or just to relax with friends and co-workers during happy hour before you hop on the train. It is all about the food and service says owner Joseph Lavelle. "I want my guests to enjoy themselves, have a great meal and return again and again".

Not worth the money and there are lots of places way better than this dump. Food was lousy. Drinks are way overpriced and they add a 18 percent tip ... for lousy service ????

The food was bad. There was something wrong with each dish and overall the quality was just poor. The service was OK and the (manager?) did ask how the food was when clearing the table (none of us finished our food) and we did tell him what was wrong - he did apologise. Why didnt we just send it back?... More

our group of nine former high school classmates met to share some Christmas cheer over drinks and what i thought would be a good steak the scene at the bar at happy hour was the best feature of our get together, seems better to have left twenties for drinks than to leave a credit card and run a tab since... I would like to say that the Statler Grill is a nice cozy place to dine. My husband and I make it a point to visit there every trip we make to New York. The staff is friendly and know what they are doing. The moment we walked in we are greeted by a smiling a face . (major importance)... More

Good sized portions and good quality meal. Service was pretty good as well and we were accommodated quickly when we popped in with no reservations. Price point was consistent with other restaurants of similar style. Enjoyed my meal here, recommended.

This restaurant is located in Hotel Pennsylvania. Not a bad bite, thgough I would say there are better similar restaurants within 10-15 mins walk.

Went here with a friend and we were each going to order the Maine lobster club sandwich, but our waithelp said it would really be too much for so she suggested that we share an order. Along with it we ordered grilled giant asparagus spears. When the sandwich arrived, we saw how right our waithelp was. The lobster salad was... More

Sadly this "grill", like its adjoining owners, the Hotel Pennsylvania, has seen better days, and they were likely half a century ago (or longer still). The restaurant is dirty; the staff uninterested; the food terrible; and the prices gouging. Give this joint a BIG miss. It's a shame New York City tolerates such lousy cooking.

It's a steakhouse you expect the food to be pretty good to start with usually what makes a steakhouse for me is how good the service is because creamed spinach is creamed spinach grilled meat is grilled me but when the waite is ad attentive as I was the food becomes incredible good food great experience.
