Description: The Statler Grill harkens back to the golden age of the big band era, and is named after Ellsworth Statler, who ran the Hotel Pennsylvania from 1919 to 1954, when musicians such as Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Glenn Miller played at the Cafe Rouge, the hotel's main dining room. The Statler serves classic New York steakhouse prime steaks and chops as well as daily delivered fresh seafood, while the bar and lounge serve a delicious grill menu. Located just steps away from Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden, it is the perfect place to have a breakfast meeting, a meal before an event at the Garden, or just to relax with friends and co-workers during happy hour before you hop on the train. It is all about the food and service says owner Joseph Lavelle. "I want my guests to enjoy themselves, have a great meal and return again and again".

This restaurant is located in Hotel Pennsylvania. Not a bad bite, thgough I would say there are better similar restaurants within 10-15 mins walk.

Went here with a friend and we were each going to order the Maine lobster club sandwich, but our waithelp said it would really be too much for so she suggested that we share an order. Along with it we ordered grilled giant asparagus spears. When the sandwich arrived, we saw how right our waithelp was. The lobster salad was... More

Sadly this "grill", like its adjoining owners, the Hotel Pennsylvania, has seen better days, and they were likely half a century ago (or longer still). The restaurant is dirty; the staff uninterested; the food terrible; and the prices gouging. Give this joint a BIG miss. It's a shame New York City tolerates such lousy cooking.

It's a steakhouse you expect the food to be pretty good to start with usually what makes a steakhouse for me is how good the service is because creamed spinach is creamed spinach grilled meat is grilled me but when the waite is ad attentive as I was the food becomes incredible good food great experience.

The Statler Grill: named after Ellsworth Statler, who ran the adjacent Hotel Pennsylvania from 1919 to 1954, this should be a great restaurant and bar. The location is first rate and with Madison Square Gardens and the hotel next door it could be bursting with customers all day and every day. Unfortunately the culture here is related to the Pennsylvania... More

Pick anight when Tom Petty was on in Madison Sq Gardens and it was pretty busy but still managed to get a seat. The atmosphere was great and so was the service. No complaints at all about the food it passed with flying colours, with the prices fair.

The floors. That's the only thing I can think of worth mentioning - they were beautiful; added an old-world charm to this Midtown "steak" house. Also the location is great if you want/need to catch the Long Island RR home, which I did. We used a groupon and weren't treated well by the waiter until my friend went out of... More

Had 13 family and friends for dinner - everyone very pleased. Service accurate and attentive. Not inexpensive, but it is Midtown Manhattan. Tip: as I did, with a large group, it is best on evenings when there is no event at nearby Madison Square Garden.

The Statler Grill was a serious disappointment for a steakhouse in a neighborhood that has Ruth Chris and Nick and Stef's steakhouse within walking distance. The service was just plain awful. Disinterested and unavailable. We were unable to get their attention to order a second round of drinks (not good business for them) and we had to wait 15 minutes... More
