Description: The Statler Grill harkens back to the golden age of the big band era, and is named after Ellsworth Statler, who ran the Hotel Pennsylvania from 1919 to 1954, when musicians such as Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Glenn Miller played at the Cafe Rouge, the hotel's main dining room. The Statler serves classic New York steakhouse prime steaks and chops as well as daily delivered fresh seafood, while the bar and lounge serve a delicious grill menu. Located just steps away from Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden, it is the perfect place to have a breakfast meeting, a meal before an event at the Garden, or just to relax with friends and co-workers during happy hour before you hop on the train. It is all about the food and service says owner Joseph Lavelle. "I want my guests to enjoy themselves, have a great meal and return again and again".

Food ingredients and taste need to be improved. We'd tasted the NY sirloin steak & Sea Bass, the restaurant had used vein steak to prepare for the sirloin steak, which was extremely chewy, and it was dried too. The Sea Bass, which was a little tasteless, had couple of fish pin-bones in the filet, almost pin it in my spouse's... More

Stopped here with son for a quick meal. The staff were cordial enough, but the food was fantastic. I had a baked salmon that was perfectly prepared. All is a la carte, so it is a bit pricey though.

I'm glad I visited The Statler Grill Restaurant while staying at The Hotel Pennsylvania. . The staff was very outgoing & demonstrated a sincere need to make my dining experience top notch. From the awesome and friendly bartender lady... (super kind Russian blonde woman, I forgot her name) to the waiter who brought my food to my table, totally floored... More

What can I say about a Steak House? Your get what you get. It can be good or not so good but it's steak or lobster. In our case it was steak, we selected filet mignon and it was really tasty and tender. The appeticers were also very nice, a very large portion of calamari and a cesar salad, and... More

Had dinner here prior to a show across the street at Madison Sq. Garden. Service was top notch! Staff was very friendly and very attentive! Food was excellent -- fresh, delicious, nice portions, and very filling ... great menu choices for everyone -- fish, steaks, chicken, salads ... we really loved the oysters, mussels, and steaks that we ordered!

Dropped in here for a late lunch. Excellent service. Atmosphere is old New York steakhouse/club (red and dark wood). We had salads with shrimp and tuna. The seafood was perfectly prepared. Service was excellent -- a bit pricey.

I recently went to The Statler this past Saturday and I did go with a groupon which they accepted with no issues. They do ask in advance which some people may think is rude but I was fine with it since it allowed the staff to show us all the options and boy was it great. We ordered the Steak... More

I have eaten a few times at Statler Grill, each time at a business lunch. While the food is usually good, it can be inconsistent. For the price, I expect that each time I order a particular item, it should taste the same. That was not the case with an entree salad. The steak is good, and the service has... More

the people /service is good. The place is a bit old and tatty--but that's New York. I ordered a wedge of lettuce with a tomato ( salad) and it was SWIMMING in dressing. I had a small steak... came a bit more done than I liked it. I think it was ok but not as tasty as I had expected... More

The Statler is a hang out I frequent and could not ask for a better environment. Great views, great staff who are friendly and attentive. I have never been disappointed here. If you are meeting friends, solo, or on business don't pass this place up if you are in the Harold Square/Macy's 34th street area. I have enjoyed several meetings... More
