Brilliant Service, Upscale Food

I ate at Junoon during restaurant week and had a three course meal. The food was delicious and came out at appropriate intervals. The service was brilliant to say the least. My friend was stuck on a train and by the time she arrived, we were an hour late. But the hostess was very accommodating and... read more

I am a foodie and I love Indian food. I have been in this starred restaurant for a lunch with my housemate during the restaurant week. The atmosphere was appreciable, as well as the furniture and the service. Since I am veg, for appetizer I have chosen mirchi pakora (shishito pepper, whipped paneer, mint, tamarind chutney) and I can state... More

Choose the restaurant after reading the reviews for dinner. There is nothing authentic about the Indian food here. It has taken a twist on Indian food. It is very much over priced. If you do not mind over priced food which not authentic then try it.

We went to this acclaimed Indian restaurant last month. The location and decor was pretty good. But the food was rather disappointing. There were quite a few innovative option, but somehow the taste didnt match to the price paid and reputation of the michelin chef. The eggplant chat was pretty good. Service is pretty good. Should go there once for the... More

Food in Chelsea used to be bland at best but this modern Indian restaurant has very good service and food, good drinks too. If it were not for the poor attitude of the reception staff, assuring you that you need to wait for an hour when the dining room is and remains half-empty the whole time, it would be a... More

We went with an unusually large group. There were to be six of us (including one native of India), but then three more joined at the last minute. The place has an elegant setup, with seating in the bar area as well as the main dining room. We were seated in the main dining room, but the bar area looks... More

Booked Junoon as a lover of Indian food and disillusioned with typical bland US fare. Can an Indian restaurant really justify Michelin recognition? On this showing yes on most levels. The food which matters most is exceptional. The quality was high and the spicing and heat confident and more aggressive than local Indians catering for unsophisticated US palates. The service... Great service from the get-go, amazing food accompanied by some spectacular Chateuneuf du pape, combined with the right ambience made this a very memorable experience.

We were lucky enough to have chef Vikas Khanna in the house when we dined there. One of the most humble, down to earth chefs ever. He came over to our table and checked on us and chatted for a while. The food was incredible... just incredible.

Beautiful restaurant, great cocktails (pricey), food was very good but beware: it is HOT. You may want to double check with the waiter. Prices are quite steep, but so far one of the best Indian restaurants in the city

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
