Description: Spina is a fresh Italian pasta house located in the East Village. Fresh pastas handmade by Blanca Rincon are decadently adorned with sauces and ragus. Small plates focus on Italy's love affair with seafood as well. General Manager Matthew Harrell's wine list goes international and local with some expert selections from traditional wine regions as well as the Finger Lakes located in upstate New York.Spina's brick walled, cozy dining room contains a fresh pasta bar where guests can watch our Pasta Chef Blanca prepare fresh pasta throughout their dining experience.

The food and service are superb! The winter salad is marvelous. The servings are just the right size served in bowls that deceive the eye! My only complaint is that the noise level grows so we always try to get there early so we are finished before it gets totally full. A great foodie restaurant with a smallish menu.

Known for its home-made pastas, Spina has that and more. The PEI mussels (appetizer for the table) were delightfully flavored and enjoyed by all. Our group enjoyed the lamb orrechiette (a house favorite) and goat cheese gnocchi, as well as the oven roasted chicken. Service was friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and attentive. This was our first visit but won't be our... More

Pleasant local flavor. Nothing spectacular, but the food was correct - pastas especially done well. Fine wine list. All in all a solid meal at good value.

So part of my cousins visit was to enjoy the culinary delights of NYC. We happen to be exploring my neighborhood, the east village when we happen upon Spina. I have to confess that I've walked past this place on my home and never noticed it. We walked in not knowing what to expect and was promptly greeted by the... More

Excellent Pastas - I'd skip the main course, and just order double pasta course. Don't miss the gnochi - rarely found made correctly stateside. Also, do not pass on the ricotta spread for the home made foccacia. You will diet tomorrow. Desserts are lovely!!! Expansive wine list, but be careful, they tried to substitute a different vintage without alerting me.... More

Great fresh pasta with interesting combos of seasonal sauces cooked perfectly. Very good service without being in your face all the time. Wine list is quite extensive but many are quite expensive. Go on a Sunday or Monday for the 1/2 price wine deal which would be better value.

This is the second time I have eaten at this wonderful establishment. I rarely order pasta, but I have a weakness for the homemade stuff when the chef really knows how to make it correctly. We had 6 in our party and we all raved over every dish. The mushroom bruschetta and goat cheese gnocchi were incredible. I am so... More

Short and simple - food exceptional. Menu was well done, lots of great choices and variety. WIne list sufficient. Half price bottle on Sunday was a nice bonus. Only concern - Sunday night, not enough help. We had to wait a too long to order wine, meal and dessert. My guess is there is more help and this was a... More

I have eaten at Spina four times and the pasta dishes never fail to impress. Last Sunday night I had both specials, bruscetta with ricotta and mushrooms for starters, followed by the wild boar fettucine with a terrific Rosso de Montalcino (half price). Great food, good value and a very pleasant place to spend a Sunday evening.
