Great stopping off point on a day of retail therapy!

We popped into John Dory on a busy day of shopping and were pleased we did. It's a busy lunch spot but service was very prompt - that said there was no sense of trying to rush us out so that they could turn the table. Our sever was just the right mix of friendly and professional. It's not cheap... read more

We went there for a somewhat special occasion. I had no idea what to expect. When you enter at night it feels like a seafood diner. Very high ceilings and fish art on the upper part of the walls. Actually a small place with no tables, all bar/stools. I was not too happy with the comfort on the stools, I... More

Popped in here for a late night drink/light snack after a concert at Madison Square Garden. All of the seafood that we had was very fresh and sauces were delicious. The warm rolls were also quite tasty and the cocktail menu is creative and very good. Service was fine, not memorable. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table facing the... More

On business by myself in The city. I was craving oysters and bubbles. Have enjoyed their lobster rolls in the past so I decided to pop in. Sat at the bar and Laura the bartender was great!! I had the small plateau-thingy and it was huuuge! It was fun watching the action behind the bar and Laura was able to... More

In New York there are many places for taste the best oyster from both coasts, but this one has a special touch. It's a bar in a corner of Broadway and West 29th St. for going after office. it's very informal, with a "kitch" decoration, but very good meals. Oyster, crabs, clambs, lobster, etc. It's a small place in a... More

Having enjoyed John Dory in its Chelsea location years ago, we finally got around to trying it in its current spot. The space is much expanded and the decor is eye-catching but that's about the best we can say now. You're seated high up on bar stools which is not the most comfortable position, and you almost feel as if... More

Good lunch but pricey, lobster roll very expensive for one roll in overtoasted bun. Lots of lobster but not very tasty. Lobster and scrambled eggs is very fishy. Draft beer selection limited but interesting with some unfamiliar brands.

Considering I was born and have lived at the Beach in Florida for almost 30 years, I typically shy away from seafood places when I travel. I mean, what could they possibly have that I can't get better and fresher? Well this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I was staying at the Ace Hotel and got in late my first... More

I was looking for a good place to get oysters for happy hour and found this place highly rated. I must say, I definitely thought it lived up to its ratings. Their weekend happy hour is from noon-3pm with drink specials and $2 select oysters. I sat at the oyster bar, which was cool to watch them shuck my oyster... More

Stopped for a late afternoon snack here. Very well made cocktails and the lady bar tender was kind enough to let us have a read of a selection of the cocktail books behind the bar. The Kingsley Amis guide to drinking was hilarious. I had a lobster roll. Good but not great, to my taste the bun was too toasted... More
