My wife and I like everything about this restaurant, but the food - the two sandwiches - pork and lobster roll. Both had way too much sauce, and because the sauce was very salty, way too much salt. Both sandwiches tasted as if the chef spilled salt on them.

I had heard about The John Dory Oyster Bar for years and had wanted to try it due to my love for all things oyster. Perhaps there would have been a better time to go than late on a Wednesday night? Well, that's when I ended up there (no reservation) and though the oysters and some of the food was... More

We were on our way to Nomad for lunch but it was closed due to set up for the Halloween ball. How lucky for us!!! The atmosphere was so fun. It's worth it just to see the fish tank hanging from the wall. Our server knew both the food and wine list extremely well and the food was great!!

In my search for coctails, these guys did it!! If the restaurant gives an ounce of the attention to detail, creativity and quality that the bar staff do, I need to eat there! My dream coctail was basically made by the addition of freshly squeezed ginger. It was so pungent and gave you such a hit that the rye seemed... More

the food was good but the price exorbitant! Service was very good - the place is quieter than the Breslin next door and nicely layed out.

Excellent seafood dishes and very accommodating for large groups at the last minute. Their raw assortment is fresh and creative. And their cooked dishes are equally tasty. Great location at the Ace too.

After long travel my colleague and I wanted something light to eat and choose the John dory oyster bar close to our hotel. We started with oysters, and they were really good. Then I had a salmon crevice and the other side of the table had seared tuna, the latter advertise as small bite, but it was quite a meal.... More

We needed a place to dine before the billy joel show at MSG ( which was fabulous). It was convenient to that. This restaurant feels more like a bar. The oysters were fresh and delicious. They are shucked right in front of you. I had a cold lobster as my entree. The seafood is well prepared and fresh. Nothing outstanding... More

We were looking for somewhere to eat and fancied seafood. This restaurant seemed to fit the bill from the menu displayed outside. The interior is terrific and nicely furnished with more than a nod to an American image of a Victorian restaurant. I particularly liked all the fish ornaments and the aquarium. The food is done a shared basis -... More

We had read rave reviews of this place, inside the Ace Hotel. Apparently, the "cool" and hip (and young) people who make up most of the customers have different tastes than I do. The menu was very different from any seafood restaurant I've ever been to (and I've been to many); very few items, many unfamiliar, and all small plates... More
