Great oysters, good food, okay service

I made a last minute reservation on Open Table, and when we arrived we were told, "I don't know why Open Table let you do that; we have no tables." They managed to seat us at the oyster bar, which was fine. We started with the small seafood tower for two of us. The oysters were superb and the... read more

On our final night in NYC we wanted to try another seafood tower and the John Dory is right around the corner from our apartment. It's a very cool restaurant and the service was friendly. But the seafood tower didn't come close to the tower we had at Balthazar and it was more expensive. Very small lobster and no crab... More

We booked a table for 8pm on Friday night (online from the UK prior to our arrival in NYC) as we love seafood and this looked like a fantastic oyster bar. We arrived 20 minutes early but didn't expect our table to be ready - so sat at the bar to wait. At 8pm we were told it would be... More

We were staying across the street and stopped here for a late night drink and desert. They had a very nice raw bar, even late at night. The wait staff was friendly and helpful and there were several tables of guests enjoying drinks and bites. My wife had a tea and I had a hot toddy to fight the evening... More

Perfect for the start to an evening, or a quiet night with Champagne and Oysters. We were staying at the Ace Hotel and wanted a quiet night after a friend ran the NYC marathon - service was great! The bar manager was experimenting with cocktails which we were lucky enough to try as well! Great service and atmosphere!

Awesome lunch at John Dory, ordered a lobster roll and the taste is absolutely fantastic. the Lobster is really fresh and I love the potato chips they serve on the side - cripsy, not oily and there is a heaty, spicy after taste. I've also been here for dinner/ happy hour and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Quiet oyster bar in Midtown with the best variety of oysters I've ever experienced. No music or large crowds, just the best oysters I had in NYC. From there it's a short walk to Penn station for more oysters (Tracks restaurant).

What a great venue for drinks and excellent seafood. We had oysters from east and west coast, they were all great. Then we had octopus with Brussels sprouts, great combination. The best dish however was the lobster roll. Very nice staff, special Hernan! Will definitely go back
