Nice food, great location, great space

I'd give this a 5 star rating if it was not for the service. Lots of servers being very busy, but none of the paying attention to the needs of the customers. I had to ask 3 times for some items and took 5 minutes to actually get on of the waiters to come to the table. Otherwise, food was... read more

Went there on a recommendation ..front of building covered in scaffolding walked through the long modern bar at 8pm and arrived at the hostess ...the restaurant was not full at that point and we had reservations for 2. Some "guy" appears and with a smarmy smile says I've got just the table for you and had us climb the stairs... More

A wonderful place for a wine pairing dinner. My favorite dish was the wild bass with the fregola sarda, which was well complemented by a rosato wine. The homemade rigatoni was a conservative choice, except that it was made with oxtail ragu. It was hearty and really did taste like homemade. The salt cod fritters were a bit salty and... More

Our family ate here twice for dinner during a recent NYC visit. The restaurant was recommended by our concierge for Italian food. Both meals for us were excellent. Service was very attentive. Appropriate portions for the money (not tiny food for big prices). We tried many things from the menu over two nights and were very satisfied with everything we... More

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner here. The waiter made a nice suggestion for our wine. Our pasta appetizers were excellent. My wife had veal ravioli and I had chestnut papardelle with Scottish rabbit. Hers had a delicate flavor and mine was in your face; both good. I had the sea scallops main course. The 3 large scallops were... More

One of my friends was coming from out of town and was staying in this area of town. As someone who has lived in NYC for many years and eats out regularly, I particularly take the opportunity to try new restaurants when she visits. So, I did some research and this past week we went to SD26. Wow! The food... More

Its NYC. There is no reason to eat at a restaurant where the experience is average but the prices high. The positive: the staff in the back (the restaurant) are warm, and friendly. The wine list is a good one. Some people seem to like the fact that it's on an iPad, but to me that's irrelevant. The negative: the... More

When you walk into SD26, it feels like you're going into a trendy, upscale place but when you arrive in the actual dining area it's a bit underwhelming. The decor is just odd - sparse, with strange balls of yarn hanging from the ceiling. The exposed kitchen and iPad wine lists are fun, but they've been done and aren't exciting... More

We visited one lunchtime and it was very busy with the local office crowd. Food was good especially the ravioli with soft egg and truffle - amazingly good. Bread was very tasty with excellent olive oil. Set menus had good choice and offered good value. I went off menu and my husband had the set menu so he had a... More

We went to SD26 twice during our long weekend in NYC. The (Italian) food is absolutely delicious, the ambiance is nice, and not overly cool. The people add to all of that with their highly personal service - Nancy is one of the best waitresses I have ever met. Highly recommended!
