We loved you when we could have a beautiful Japanese meal with friends in a convivial setting where we could talk and laugh and hear ourselves. Then you renovated and took out the panels separating the front and back rooms and let all the noise drown out our conversation. Worst of all, what have you done with the cooking??? The... More

i visited this restaurant in June 2014, the location is original because you see when the chef prepare the food, the quality is very good and i love the "style" of this place. I suggest to who want a different restaurant in NYC!

I been dining in many Robata Grills in Japan and when Robataya first open the door for the customers I was pleased to become a regular.Over the year off course Robata chefs come and go several times . Some of them are very good and some a bit slow.On our last dinner we have new guy and he was very... More

my family and many of my friends are fans of this restaurant. we come here for dinner and lunch, especially weekend lunch(since three years ago, almost every weekend). the set lunch were one of the MUST eat on our list, plus some side orders.Food tast delicious, authentic, and reasonable price. But, after the place renovated, this place does not serve... More

My son and I had lunch here and it was a lot of delicious food for the money. We both had the breaded (panko) berkshire pork cutlet. It was perfect. Juicy, tender, flavorful, ample portion and it came with 2 appetizers (they have a small cart with several choices and you serve yourself). The lunch also comes with a small... More

This is a nice place to go for a few snacks before going somewhere else for dinner. We had girls' night out here and the bill was about $150 each (includes sake), when all was said and done... but then I realized I could count my bites of food from the whole evening. Take your money and head to a... More

This is a very nice japanese restaurant with excellent food and a friendly atmosphere. To completely enjoy the ambient ask to be seated at the counter, from where you have a complete sight of all the food processing.

This is truly a unique restaurant -- its only other mate is in Tokyo. There are two dining areas -- a back room which is quiet and sedate, and a large front room with a counter, which is where all the "action" is. There are two chefs in the front room, surrounded by plates of fresh ingredients -- veggies, fish... More

Lots of Japanese getting yelled from the servers to the cooks. All the food was delicious. Of course, you would want larger portions of this deliciousness, but they give you a decent amount for the price. The quality is outstanding and the servers really let you know what is good even if it is expensive.
