As we were staying in the local neighbourhood for a long weekend, we were interested by this place; walking past it a few times. I think we would have enjoyed it far more as a bar experience with food rather than a proper restaurant. The concept of the menu seemed really fun - construct your meal rather than pick a... More

This place is serious about its meatballs and quite right too they are delicious. There are a number of different types which you then get to cover in a sauce of your choice and then if you desire add an agg (the family jewels) to the top. I chose not to have pasta as it was for lunch so it... More

Stumbled into this place on our way from one spot to the next. Yummy meatballs, friendly service! We were twenty years older than anyone, but that didn't bother us.

Oh man--this place was amazing. We were staying just around the corner and after walking by it a few different nights we decided to go in without a reservation for dinner. They were packed but they fit us right in at their "communal table" which meant that we had neighbors sitting on each side of us. We got to know... More

As this one is ending. I've been here multiple times throughout the years and its prime unfortunately has passed. Service was great but several problems with the food and then management proceeded to argue over semantics. Not the first time I was offended at this place but it was the last.

I've been looking forward to this restaurant since I saw the commercial on TV. When I went during the afternoon, it wasn't all that packed, so that was a plus. If you want to act like a local, tell them you've been there before. The way to order is that you're given a menu and marker and you circle everything... More

The food excellent, service is friendly and helpful. There are a lot of choices considering they only make balls. The menus are also cool, you use a sharpie to choose Your order.

Love love love this place It's a loud small bar like atmosphere so not the best setting for families with young ones. However for everyone else it's awesome. Quality inexpensive (comfort) food. Great setting and service. My third day back there (for take away) since we and especially my little one cannot get enough of their meat balls Highly recommend... More

We were looking for something different for a Birthday meal and a local New Yorker recommended The Meatball Shop. Its very small so be prepared to put your name down and wait. They will text you when your table is ready. IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! Small and cosy with great old school hip hop music playing we started confused... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
