This was a fun and tasty, child friendly restaurant. I love the decor of this restaurant, kind of like your funky grandma meets a 70's inspired thrift shop. The back garden is also lovely - too bad they allow people to smoke. The waiter was great and the food was really good. We had: The Mediterranean Platter (hummus, babaganoush, chick... More

you walk in and woohooo you are in a different time/space zone! the interior is flashy and packed with kitsch - i love it. it is comfortable and the staff is always super nice ( everyone from waiters to busboys) and i have been coming here for years. the food is also constantly good (i love the salads) and the... Yaffa Cafe is a good place to grab a steamed milk and late-night meal or coffee and post-event dessert. I've been frequenting Yaffa since college in the 90's -- its fun, kitschy decor (think Hedwig and the Angry Inch) and good comfort food keep me coming back. It also has a good-sized outdoor patio in the back if the indoors... More

I have been coming here since college in the '90s and am thrilled that in an area riddled with so much change, the East Village, the food and decor have stayed exactly the same. I always get the avocado salad with carrot dressing (it is so good, I have been trying to reverse-engineer it for years and I know other... More

Stopped in and was greeted by hostess who was polite and friendly. Service from waiter, Gavin, who explained the food and recommended plates. Very professional and friendly. Ordered calamari as appetizer and it was delicious. Ordered the salmon and it was good. The Tiramasu I ordered for dessert was ok. The place is small and there is an outdoor eating... More

I went there 2 weeks ago with some friends. There were 4 of us and we decided to sit outside. We waited about 15 min and no one came out to take our order. I had to go inside to remind them we were out here. Then the waitress took our orders and it took another 20 minutes for the... More

This restaurant I been going to since the 90's and the food is exactly the same and the fact that they are 24 hours just makes it even more awesome! Excellent service, good food for such a reasonable price. Sat outside, enjoyed watching the coming and going of folks while we sipped on our "happy hour" wine. Had lamb meatball appetizers, potato leek soup and chicken wrap. Those were all very good. My sister had the feta salad which she felt had too many greens...she would have preferred more feta... What a great place. The food was DELICIOUS and extremely good value. The decor is as fabulous as the waiters. Make sure you eat here. I would return for sure!

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
