Jean-Georges opened in 1997 to critical acclaim. The jewel of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s empire, the restaurant offers the very best in fine dining. Consistently awarded four stars by the New York Times and three Michelin stars, Jean-Georges presents exquisitely crafted dishes blending French, American, and Asian influences. The local farmer’s market is the driving force behind the seasonal, ever-changing menu. Chef Jean-Georges is a master at maintaining the essence of ingredients while using them inventively to produce the best flavor. Jean-Georges’ chic and intimate dining room was redesigned by Thomas Juul-Hansen, with striking lighting by L’Observatoire. Impeccable service, tableside preparations, and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of Central Park and Columbus Circle all contribute to an unforgettable dining experience. Jean-Georges offers a three-course prix-fixe menu and two six-course tasting menus: a traditional tasting of the chef’s signature dishes, and a seasonal tasting featuring fresh market ingredients. The prix-fixe and tasting menus are available Monday through Sunday for dinner. The restaurant also offers a two-course lunch menu for a terrific value. Gentleman are required to wear a jacket. No jeans, sweatshirts or sneakers allowed. Tie is not required.

For what you pay, I expected to be blown away by creative dishes expertly executed. I was disappointed. The food was good for sure, but not amazing. I don't know how this place has three Michelin stars.

We wanted just a snack before the theatre so stopped in here. Seated at the bar we had delicious shrimp salads with bread that was fab! Had a little extra time so we shared a lemon crepe cake. This was so good...the top was like a brûlée crust! Pure genius. Was wishing I had one alone....oh well, next time. Also... More

The restaurant is beautiful, very comfortable, and though it is very elegant, it is not intimidating. The food was perfectly prepared, very fresh, and flavorful. The waitstaff was extremely polite, friendly, and attentive. We never had to ask for a thing- it just arrived on time.

We disliked nothing but the prices are high. There are 2 versions, one dressy and the other not. The menus are different but they are essentially in different parts of the same room.

Jean Georges has an luxury atmosphere, an extraordinary menu and a very good wine list (if possible, try the Corison 2010). We had a marvelous dinner and, certainly, will come back on our next trip to NYC.
