Cool stop after Katz Deli

We walked over here for dessert rather than try the sweets at Katz Deli, about 15 min walk but you can probably walk faster if you don't try looking at everything like us. I recommend the Cereal Milk ice cream with hot fudge...mmm so good! My second favorite was the compost cookie. If you try... read more

My daughter saw the Candy Bar Pie on Buzzfeed. She ordered that, our friend ordered the Crack Pie and I ordered a Pretzel Shake. Everything was extremely good. I appreciate that so many of the items were unique, not easy to do in such a crowded market as New York. The Pretzel Shake was an amazing balance of sweet and... More

The most popular items seem to be:1- cereal milk soft serve, 2- crack pie, 3- birthday truffle, 4- compost cookie. If you can't decide which one to try, you can get all 4 as the Greatest hits pack for $17. That's what I did and was disappointed with every item. As other reviewers say, it just tasted like sugar (and... More

I don't get the hype of this place. We tried several things and they just all tasted like pure sugar. The crack pie is literally butter and sugar. YUCK. Nothing special and would not visit here again.

We loved the candy bar pie! (We contemplated getting the crack pie, but it just didn't sound nearly as good). We also shared a scoop of the cereal milk soft serve with crunchies. At first it was a little bit of a let-down, but then the flavor grew on us. Their cookies looked yummy too. The store itself is tiny... More

Everyone told me to stop here for some Crack Pie or milk and cookies. Sure, it satisfied my sweet tooth, but I may as well have spent the money on a bag of sugar. There's nothing unique to the flavoring. Not worth the hype, the money, or the cavity. Especially not worth the push line and service that accompanies any... More

I love sugar and all other forms of sweetness, and the Crack Pie here just tops my list of food to die for.

This place is cool but a little uncomfortable. Great cookies and milk but terrible coffee. There is a bar but if you don't want drinks you end up in the lobby of the hotel next door.

The queue was long so we went for a drink across the street and returned later. Rosemary flavoured ice cream was yummy and we brought home the compost cookie for breakfast and it was scrumptious

You have to smile after taking a sip of Christina Tosi's "cereal milk." It's exactly what it sounds like: cereal steeped with corn flakes. The simplicity and familiarity of the drink make it quite appealing. Corn cookies are a sweet, buttery soulmate to any of the dairy treats on the menu. Compost cookies, though dry, are also pleasing to the... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
