We ate at Frank and Johnnie's based on a recommendation from a friend of ours that lives in New York. Wow, the food was fantastic and the portions are huge! Our steaks took up the entire plate for both me and my husband. If they have the fried bacon special get it! We were expecting a dainty appetizer type dish... More

$102 plus tip got us two 8 oz petite tenderloin steaks, hash browns, and two cokes. We also got a complimentary assortment of breads. Steaks were so tender and delicious. Atmosphere is tight and dark. Service is average. Conveniently located in Times Square for tourists like us.

I had a delicious rib eye stake with sides of mushrooms/onions and cottage potatoes while my partner had the chicken with mushrooms with au gratin potatoes and spinach. The portions were huge and our waiter recommended giving us half portions for the sides. We couldnt even finish these as they were so big. The food was so tasty and all... More

The location was great for a quick business meeting - loved the staff and the filet was perfect. It was a great place for a late Thursday night dinner!

Total shocker - I would highly recommend going here!!! We've been into the downstairs bar several times before a show but snuck upstairs to dinner for the first time. The wine list was outstanding and well priced! I asked the server for recommendations and he suggested the ribeye. Gotta tell you it was one of the best ribeye's I have... More

The service is the best around and the steak also! The shared steak for two can easily feed three! The filet is so tender, no need for a steak knife and the creamed spinach is wonderful!

Overall we had a very good experience here. Quality of food was excellent. Although the steaks were a little over what we asked for. The service was great. Other than the rude coat check person, everyone else was very friendly and helpful. The seating area is very small and you are on top of the other diners. We were right... More

Apart from the fact that they have a wonderful lunch prix fixe for restaurant week, this is a solid restaurant with a very friendly wait staff and food done right. I didn't get to sample the full steak menu since I was here for restaurant week but if it's any indication I should really come back. My berry gelato dessert... More

they have remodeled the entry and has a nice small bar, go upstairs and the place is cozy and close. Always packed and you can hear what the table next to you is talking about. The food is very good and service is good. Going back next month.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
