Frankie and Johnnie's Steakhouse is traditional NYC Steakhouse. It has a nice old feel to it and has that charm you get with the NYC architecture. The staff is very attentive and does a good job. They are upselling a bit, but not too much. Nice staff, good people. I ordered the Porterhouse for two with my guest and the... More

You need to be Hungary, portion sizes are big and the food was very tasty and the steaks are cooked to how you would like. Well worth having a meal at this restaurant.

Ate at Frankie & Johnnie's after the theatre. Didn't expect to get in without reservations but was pleasantly surprised. From the outside, it's very low-key. But the steak and service were fabulous! Highly recommend and will return.

We were referred to this historic property for pre-theatre cocktails and looked forward to checking it out for possible supper later or another day. The bartender was unfriendly and poured poor drinks...we had to ask for the condiments typically served in our cocktails! Prices high, service low.

We visited for pre-show dinner and were looking for a steakhouse with a reputation. F&Js was it. The ambience was excellent (a little old and worn but with style); this is definitely not a modern facsimile of a steakhouse. The service was excellent, the food was exactly to our wishes (albeit a little pricey) but you pay for what you... More

We stopped in for a quick drink. Cute little bar, drinks were fine; hostess was nice (we didn't eat in the restaurant but we chatted with her while we were in the bar); bar tender could have been friendlier but she was just ok.

Frankie and Johnnie's is a former speakeasy dating to the 1920s. You walk up a steep flight of stairs to reach the second floor dining room, and another flight to reach the restrooms -- all originally designed for security purposes during the Prohibition era apparently. The restaurant has a wonderful history, and the ambience feels it. The wait staff greets... More

Decided to try this restaurant based on an ad we had read in one of the theatre programs. Apparently, F and J had once been rated as having the best steak in town. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed. Salad was bland and basically inedible. My rib eye was very tough. Would not go back.

We were looking for somewhere to eat late after a Broadway show (Les Miserables - fantastic!) and came across this place. You have to go up to the first floor and my immediate impression was of a place that was stuck in its past heydey and now just looked dated and a shabby. I love places with a history but... More
