Great food but mediocre experience

I came to this restaurant with two of my friends after hearing a lot of praises on Chef Boulud. We came at 22:20 in the evening and one of us ordered the "LONG ISLAND CRESCENT DUCK" which was really good. I ordered the "CAVATELLI" - a pasta with duck slices which was tasteless so i asked to replace the dish... More

DBGB has a terrific meat-centric menu; try the Frenchie burger and filet, which are especially tasty. But the experience of the whole meal was compromised by oddly long tables that reduced the intimacy of the group, and waitstaff that seemed unable to overcome its awkwardness. Interrupted conversations, long waits for drinks and food, and just generally off timing, the waitstaff... More

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and I was not disappointed at all. We started with a drink at the bar, I had a margarita with fresh squeezed lime juice, which was perfect- I hate when they use mix and its too sweet. We had fried calamari to start and even though I generally hate the texture of... More

We went to this place for a birthday party. Seafood apps were great. The dinners were great. Drinks tasted good but took forever to get and were very over priced. Place was huge. Plenty of seating.

Recommended by a friend, we visited DBGB and were so happy with our inside table in the back, main dining room. Best of all was the delicious meal which was part of NYC Restaurant Week. Our waiter was funny, friendly and most gracious with all of our needs.

If you like sausages, burgers, beer and sundaes, this is the place for you. It is very heavy on meat, but service is first class. We got off on the right foot by being asked where we would like to sit. That is something too few restaurants bother to ask their patrons. Our waiter, Jose, was top notch. We asked... More

Go on a leisurely Saturday for great food, a casual atmosphere and a funky yet somehow still elegant ambience. I'm going back for sure. Daniel Boulud always hits it out of the park.

I don't normally feel the need to write reviews, however on this occasion I felt that it was important to highlight a few key aspects where the restaurant was well below what I expected. To start I would like to highlight the positives of my experience. The steak I ordered was excellent with very good presentation and taste, at a... More

The décor is fabulous, and the casual concept of the restaurant lets you eat 5-star cuisine without being dressed up. Even the wait staff wear denim! The restaurant is known for its sausages, so that is what you should get. Don't be like me and fall for the pasta entrée. What was I thinking? It was a morel mushroom special... More

Excellent 7oz. burgers (at $16-20, with excellent fries) without question. Halibut was tasty but small portion. Sausage appetizers are their specialty but were bland and at ~$15-17 pricey. Kalamari simularly was ok, but portion small and overpriced. Good service and pleasant atmosphere. Go for the burgers!

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
