The food is exceptionally well prepared and presented. The dining room is stunning and the location is exceptional. It really was our best meal of the trip. The only thing keeping it from a five-star experience for us was the overall attitude of the team. From greeting at the front door to the absurd attitude copped by our waiter, this... More

I truly enjoyed the lunch and the food was great but I can't say that it was the best food ever. The choices are not typical and even somewhat extravagant. Portions are small but prices are not. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is spectacular. While I would certainly go back, I don't know that it would be my... More

Had an early reservation (only time available), but we never felt rushed and enjoyed a relaxed, fabulous meal. We went with the prixe fixe menu, and had a wine pairing added. The food was superb (branzino especially), and all the wines worked perfectly. The wait staff was top notch: friendly but not familiar, very knowledgeable about all the food. A... More

We had dined at Marea once before and had a wonderful experience so we decided to go again to celebrate a birthday. Again we had a delicious meal. We had the four course price-fixed dinner which consisted of an "appetizer", (many choices) a half pasta, a main course, and dessert. Marea is basically a seafood restaurant although there are a... Marea was highly recommended to us by friends. Having been to other Michelin rated restaurants throughout our travels, we were happy to spend time and money there. Let me just say that we decided to order the chefs tasting menu and it was sub-par. The sommelier was excellent. the food was below average. Service was good but the food was... More

We were lucky enough to dine at Marea during a recent trip to NYC a few weeks ago and it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Marea is Zagat rated as the best Italian restaurant in the city so my expectations were quite high to put it mildly. This plus seeing Anthony Bourdain pretty much turn... More

Ahhh the crudo was excellent - tuna, mackerel and snapper. My pasta was perfect ricotta and spinach. Service excellent. Unfortunately we were seated at a table which was 5 inches from the silverware station. This meant every time a table was set - the server would get silverware - very noisy, very invasive, certainly diminished the experience significantly. Not very... More

Dining at Marea is like staying at the Four Seasons. The presentation is wonderful, the servers aim to please, and you always walk away fulfilled. My husband and I dine here on special occasions. The fusili pasta with octopus and bone marrow is heavenly, as are most of the items to be shared and the polipo. This is one of... More

Not cheap but well worth it for a special occasion! We visited for my birthday, and although they couldn't find the booking we had made, immediately found us a table in the busy restaurant. The food was fantastic.

It was the only first class restaurant open in New Year day, and having a recommendation from a friend I suppose that it will be good. For my surprise and after going to Per Se and Eleven Madison Park, I can say that Marea is without doubt one of the top five restaurants in NYC. Everything was wonderful, we began... More
