We made reservations at the bar, and they did their best to accommodate us. Everyone who works at this beautiful restaurant was knowledgeable and competent, and the menu itself was extraordinary. We enjoyed discussing the cocktails and wine list with the bartender, and were also given good advice on what items to order. It has a great reputation, and be... More

Great bar. Great buzz inside. The food and choice was very good. I took my Italian wife and both of us expected an American version on Italian food. However, on the whole it was a very good restaurant. Very classy and full of the great and the good of New York. The wine list is well worth a look at... More

One can only wonder what Michelin is thinking. Marea wasn't disappointing relative to its reputation...it was disappointing absolutely. The preparation of the food was heavy handed and unsophisticated. A neighborhood Italian joint would show more care over the preparation of a meal. Fish did not taste fresh...pasta overcooked...even the dessert was overdone. To top it off, the service was overbearing... More

Service extremely attentive. Food amazing. You just have to try it. Tuna Tartare is a must. The wine list is reassuringly expensive. I am certain that anything you try from the menu, will be amazing.

Stopped in to grab a quick bite at the bar and ended up eating some of the most delicious food imaginable. The porcini encrusted halibut was the most perfectly prepared fish; over a butternut squash purée. Simply outstanding. We also had a couple of langostino's which were grilled and services with butter and lemon. They were undoubtedly the most amazing... More

What an amazing evening from beginning to end. The restaurant is gorgeous, the staff are attentive and knowledgeable and the food is absolutely marvelous. The prix fix is an excellent option, so many delicious things to taste. Offices, their seafood is the main attraction and bot does it deliver. For a special, occasion this is my top pick in NYC.

We had the prix fixed 4 course meal here and were very happy with every aspect. The room is luxurious and busy - quite a lot of chatter in the NYC style of restaurant, as opposed to the hushed tones of Per Se or Le Bernadin. The welcome was friendly and efficient and we were quickly shown to a well... More

What a way to celebrate an anniversary! This mainly fish and seafood Italian style restaurant is wonderful. We had the 4 course dinner which was good value considering the quality of the ingredients and the techniques used. The only difficulty was deciding what to select from the menu and extensive wine list. The service was excellent and we were presented... More

The dining experience at Marea is all class. The service, wine, food, and atmosphere all deliver on the promise. We started with oysters and the grilled octopus which was one of the best we ever had anywhere. We then dined on branzino and all the trimmings. The fish was superb with a hint of basil and lemon. The total meal... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
