We ate here expecting excellence, and we got it. Service was quick and personal; they have many floor staff, and all were well trained. Although they specialize in fish dishes, she found enough meat and vegetable dishes to satisfy her. For the main course she had lamb chops, while I had a very nice Dover sole. My only problem was... Ate at the bar happy to get in. Food was good but you need to like seafood, for Italian not a lot of choices. I have eaten here twice I went back again to try other items. Overall enjoyable.

My husband's best friend, a big foodie, recommended Marea to us. Since we were indulging in a lot of meats, though excellent, we wanted to eat lighter. We couldn't be happier with Marea. They KNOW seafood. For starters, we had the soft-shell crab and octopus. The octopus was so good that my husband had to text his buddy overseas right... More

First visit and what a treat. They have a $47 lunch menu, but we opted of the tasting menu. Expansive wine list with many good for seafood whites at reasonable restaurant prices. The tasting menu is five courses; all fish and pasta. The food was delicious. Not too little; not too much; just enough, as a tasting menu should be.... More

Though Marea's entrance and Bar area are sidewalk level, the main dining room is several steps down, giving their lucky diners a cozy feeling of being sequestered below the walking world above, of being almost hidden in plain sight. As the best in life is often right under your nose, this is true of Marea and this place is the... More

I have been going to this restaurant for the past 3 years. I have not had a single bad meal there. The food is fresh , flavorful and inventive. The portions are the appropriate size. The service and setting are great. I would without hesitation label it as the best Italian restaurant in New York. Prices are high but the... More

We ate at the Marea when recently in NYC, honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. We live in France and are used to fine dining but not necessarily good service. This place has both! Sommelier could not of been more helpful and informative. The hostess could not of been more attentive and the food was sublime, the... More

We had $99 prix fixe which is a pretty good deal considering the standard of food. I had oysters (6 different varieties), octopus fusili, branzino then cheese to finish. All absolutely excellent as you might expect. 1st class dining, 1st class service, with prices to match.

I finally tried caviar, Siberian Sturgeon, was an experience! But the Astice was amazingly delicious! The red prawns were the best I ever had! The food was incredible! The whole experience was memorable! Will be back in 6 months for more!

This was the best dining experience we had in many years. Food and beverages were delicious. Service was extremely attentive. Can't wait for an occasion to return.
