Even if you don't like seafood - you should go

Since I am not a huge seafood lover, after my experience at Le Bernardin, I was reluctant to go to Marea. Reluctantly, I agreed, and am so glad I did. Their menu is very flexible and I had many choices. I opted for a salad as the first course and a pork agnolotti as my pasta (2d course). Seared... read more

We had heard great things about Marea from a gourmand friend, but really you never know... Because everyone has a different opinion of what is great. Pleased to say our friend was right. A 6:30 reservation ends about 8:30 or 8:45 in the most pleasant of dining experiences. Beginning with an amuse- Bouche of a marinated cherry stuffed with smoked... More

We were so looking forward to having an amazing and romantic seafood dinner on our last trip to New York. I booked Marea as it was in the Top 100 restaurants in the world and the reviews looked promising. After an incredible dinner at NoMads a few days earlier, I was expecting similar quality, but this was a real miss....... More

It was our first time dining at Marea (My dad and I) and we were both very impressed by the quality of the food and of the service. The restaurant seemed quite busy but our waiter was very attentive and the service was great. We ordered a dozen oysters and an octopus appetizer to start our meal and while the... More

This is a MUST every time I visit New York; either for lunch or dinner I really enjoy their fresh seafood and pasta. The atmosphere is really modern, the service is great and the food is amazing. If you go for dinner don’t miss the Astice (lobster and burrata) and the Fusilli Pasta with octopus and bone marrow, just heavenly.... More

Marea is a restaurant with personality. The tables are correctly spaced out, giving the right amount of space. The waiters are attentive and very professional. The food is great, but a bit overpriced for what it is. In overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Marea, but I had the feeling we were paying for the prime location right in front... More

The wait staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. They made the evening such a pleasure for our girls. The food was excellent and although very busy we were not too rushed. We had an early sitting and the pace and attention was there but not to an obvious point of moving us on. A lovely selection of wines. The recommendation... More

Our first time dining at Marea last week was a great experience for my husband and me. Although we arrived at 10:30 pm, the place was still full of animated diners having a wonderful time. The Italian seafood is delicious, the service is very attentive, and the ambiance most pleasant. Everything is comfortable without being pretentious or overly attentive. Fine... More

Had a fabulous dinner on July 3rd, thanks so much to the sommelier in choosing the perfect white to compliment our meal. Delicious from beginning to end, the 4 course meal is a great way to discover the menu here. Thank you for a lovely meal!

I lived in NYC for three years, trying new restaurants every week, but one of my favorites without a doubt is Marea. Everytime I go its incredible. All of the plates are just delicious. Specially the homemade pastas are to dye for me my favorites The Pansotti (ricotta, swiss chard, brown butter, beet and sage) and Fusilli with baby octopus... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
