Incredible Crudo and Pasta

I was surprised how unpretentious Marea was compared to many of it's counterparts in the neighbourhood. The restaurant focuses mainly on Italian seafood dishes. Late night at the bar, the gorgeous thinly-sliced panels of marble (or is it Agate?) (full disclosure you might see some culinary stars having a snack,)ti chose the crudo menu, pristine ocean fishes, vintage champagne, lots of eye candy. Central Park South must go-to venue, dress nice

I had a dinner with my wife. I was asked twice by servers if we would join the Broadway show or musical after the dinner. We did not plan to do that, but many guests who had started the dinner at 17 to 18 :00 may have joined the shows directly after the dinner, and the servers had to know... More

We had dinner on Saturday night at Marea while attending the Tribeca Film Festival. Gary, our server, was smart, very professional and affable and helped make for a fun and interesting dining experience. We had the four course fixed menu. We had the ricotta canoli and grilled octopus, fusilli with octopus and bone marrow and mushroom risotto followed by cuttlefish... More

I brought my husband here to celebrate a special birthday. Service: We arrived for an early dinner at 6:30pm on a weekday, and I just felt from the moment I arrived it was a nonstop rushed experience. For the caliber of restaurant, I was shocked at how I felt like I was being rushed out to fill the table with... More

Everything about Marea is perfection--the elegantly designed dining room, the friendly, knowledgable service and of course the food and wine. We were three for dinner and we put our trust into someone who had been to Marea before and knew how to order. We started off with each having a pair of 5 Crudos from a list of 15. Each... More

Fabulous seafood in tony setting just off Central Park. Book ahead - a month out on the website if you really want a table. A highlight of our trip to NYC. Branzino, soft-shell crab, oysters. Good guidance from the wine steward on unusual wines that went well with the food. Popular upscale location worth a splurge!

Celebrated a 40th birthday here with 5 girls and we were blown away by the food. The ambience was dimly lit and beautiful, and the food was exquisite. I knew this place was highly rated, but the food even surpassed that. Highly recommended.

Some New York friends took us to Marea - what a treat! We absolutely loved it and it was the first New York restaurant we had eaten in that week where we were actually able to enjoy a three course meal! The seafood starters were both beautiful to look at and delicious. The entrees were well executed and came with... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
