In NY for business, stopped at Sofia's last night. Food: The food itself is rather good, tasty and portions are decent - European size. I had the Homemade mozzarella and tomato salad for starters, with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar on top, simple and flavorful. I also had the lasagna: rich, hearty and quite good. This is a pricey neighborhood,... More

Godawful/undistinguished/expensive/small portions/served barely warm insult to Italian Cuisine -- but the server was pleasant!

My husband and I came in for wine and a cheese and meat plate and weren't disappointed. The service is great, the selections are varied, and the place is very cozy, not at all touristy.

Met a friend here and fell in love with this place! This wine bar is refreshingly not swanky. The bohemian decor and dim lighting, in conjunction with upbeat music makes it a really unique spot. Food is great and the wine list is well priced and has fantastic choices. My favorite part of this place was the wines by the... More

I was looking for a small, charming boutique style restaurant/wine cafe/bar in the eastside area. I found Sofia Wine Bar and Café. Walking up to the entrance, we were met with lights decorating the walk and immediately set the tone for the ambiance I was hoping for. I had called ahead to see if they take reservations, but was told... More

If you like a small intimate setting this would be a nice choice in Midtown. The bartender was more than generous with his pour, very accomodating with tasting new wines. They are partial to Italian wines which is to my liking. All of their wines they serve are temperature controlled.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
