i wish this were close enough to be my neighborhood hang-out

great food! the owner is a true raconteur, and is able to tell you about the hams, the cheeses, the wines, or anything else you'd like to know in several languages! a delicious, fun place with a lively atmosphere.

Went there for an early dinner, the service was excellent, the tapas were very good, and good variety, specially the jam and cheeses. All the other dishes we tried were very well prepared, they have a very good wine list too. We didn't stay for the nightlife, but a few people we went with have gone, and they say at... More

This restaurant is tiny but very cosy. I was here for a private family party which was great. The staff were inviting and very friendly. Great wine & sangria! Superb selection of tapas. Look forward to returning when next in New York

Overall it was a good experience. Atmosphere was great and staff very friendly in a very small but cosy place. According to my experience though the tapas were not the best I have tried compared to the ones I tried in other parts of the world and in Spain where I have been several times. The tortilla lacked seasoning and... More

FourSquare helped me find this place. The reviews were very promising and very true as well. The place is very small which adds to the experience. When we walked in I didn't think we would be able to get a table. But we were very kindly welcomed and were able to sit at a table while a better table would... More

Being Spanish i really appreciate tapas at it's best. NYC suddenly becomes Spain at this small, inviting little charming place. Great tapas and jamon but the sangria is absolute to die for. The staff speaks fluent Spanish and you can just stay there for hours...Me encanta!

If you're looking for a fantastic Spanish restaurant in NYC, hit up Pata Negra. For anyone who has been to Spain and took advantage of the cuisine, specifically Iberico Ham, Jamon or Pata Negra itself, then you'll really appreciate this establishment. Its a very small place, with only a few tables, so make reservations well in advance. When you do... More

Went here for my birthday. Had made a reservation, but it was a Saturday night and it was packed. It's a tiny place. The manager/owner was so accommodating and friendly it turned what could have been an ugly experience into an amazing one. I had just gotten back from Spain and I was thrilled with the quality of the food.... More

Have been here a few times, and each time have had a terrific experience. The place is rather small, so I would advise making a reservation in advance to avoid wait times. The food is delicious and the sangria is generous. If you order a pitcher, you will get a full pitcher and a full glass of sangria. The overall... More

I lived in Spain for a semester of college -- 20 years ago -- and this place made it feel like I was back there. The food was fantastic and so authentic. The Spanish waiter (with his Madrid accent) was charming, helpful, and attentive. The place is tiny but it's still only one guy cooking everything! He is amazing. I'm... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
